I Built an AI Tool for Independent Living Services — Now I’m Learning How to Talk About It.

Building the ILS Report Assistant taught me that creating the tech is only half the journey; learning to share its impact is the other half.

I spent my Sunday morning cleaning and practicing my elevator pitch.

I did it so many times, my daughter called out, “Mom, are you talking to somebody?”

Even though I created an AI tool that saves Independent Living Service agencies time, I find myself fumbling to explain what it does in simple terms.

This creates an internal struggle for me when I’m on sales calls or in general conversation about the ILS Report Assistant.

Writing comes more naturally to me because I can take time to think deeply about what I want to say and edit as needed.

This was a great superpower to have for creating an AI tool that writes clear, professional, strengths-based reports for internal use, oversight, and client review.

But, when it comes to speaking about this tool, sometimes it takes a minute for my words to catch up to my thoughts.

So, I’ve been practicing my elevator pitch until it becomes second nature, so I can confidently share what the ILS Report Assistant does at networking events, on sales calls, or whenever the opportunity presents itself.
