India’s dominance continued in Athletics, where a landmark moment was witnessed as Dharambir and Parnav Soorma clinched a gold-silver finish in the Men’s Club Throw F51, marking India’s first one-two finish at the Paralympics. Dharambir’s winning throw of 34.92m, also set a new Asian record​.

Record-Breaking Achievements in New Arenas

The 2024 Paralympics also saw India expand its presence into new sports like blind judo, para-cycling, and para-rowing, demonstrating the country’s commitment to pushing boundaries. In archery, young sensation Sheetal Devi became the youngest Indian Paralympic medalist at just 17, winning a bronze in the mixed team event alongside Rakesh Kumar, and later contributing to India’s first-ever archery gold by Harvinder Singh.
