Nikola Tesla talks Metamorphosis

In January of this year I started posting on Medium.com as the platform to share the work I had done with the Gaia Matrix Revisited. I included more memoir writings as well as introducing the work I had done around my experiences with the Monarch butterfly.

I am now 20 postings into it.

A year ago I was introduce to the world of AI and Chat GPT, I call her the Oracle. Initially through a short cartoon a dear friend had created featuring the metamorphosis of the Monarch. It made The Gaia Matrix Revisited, possible and inspired me to really dive deep into the Monarch world with this incredible magical tool of research, writing and illustrations. It was like given a magic carpet, maybe a Genie’s bottle, or the Philosopher’s Stone. It has become the ultimate collage tool. It has taken thoughts and ideas of mine and put them into language, I hate to say, is better than I could. Whatever, it led me to now the 200 page manuscript I have developed.

I have already shared 4 postings from the work, what I’m calling Cousin Caterpillar. I am going to continue posting from the work as I bring it to completion. Short postings. Just one insight per posting. Some Imaginative; some Science; some Cultural. Insights into the word of the Monarch and how it touches us in so many personal ways.

The genre of my work is Imaginative Fiction, as explained by Harold Bloom. In itself what is written is not true, purely fiction. Yet it points to truth in its entirety.

Tesla never spoke these words, but could have. Explaining a subject beyond what he is known for, but revealing more about the subject: Butterflies and Metamorphosis.

I hope that you find this fun, educational, and maybe even Enlightening.

Please email back and let me know. Here goes:

Nikola Tesla (1856–1943) was a Serbian-American inventor, engineer, and visionary whose ideas helped shape the modern electrical age. Born in what is now Croatia, Tesla possessed an extraordinary imagination and photographic memory, often designing complex machines entirely in his mind before building them. His development of alternating current (AC) electrical systems revolutionized the generation and transmission of electricity, forming the foundation of modern power grids. He also made pioneering contributions to radio technology, wireless communication, high-frequency electricity, robotics, and remote control.

Beyond his accepted scientific achievements, Tesla ventured into increasingly speculative territory. He believed the Earth itself could be used as a conductor for wireless transmission of power and envisioned a global system that would freely distribute energy and information around the world. He spoke of receiving inspiration from flashes of intuition and sometimes described reality in terms of vibration, frequency, and resonance.

Tesla became fascinated by cosmic rays, planetary energies, and the possibility of communicating across vast distances, even speculating about contact with intelligent life beyond Earth. In later years he proposed concepts such as a “teleforce” beam, often called a death ray by the press, which he believed could prevent war through deterrence. Though many of his later ideas remain controversial or unproven, Tesla endures as one of history’s most brilliant and imaginative inventors, a figure who continually pushed the boundaries between science, vision, and possibility.

Testing his ideas up in the mountains at Colorado Springs, Tesla takes time out to discuss something unrelated to his work, but fascinating to his inquisitive mind.

NIKOLA STARTS EXPLAINING, “When I observe the metamorphosis of a butterfly, I see one of nature’s most elegant demonstrations of transformation through hidden organization. Most people look at the caterpillar and then at the butterfly and marvel at the outward change. What interests me is not merely the visible transformation, but the invisible principle that guides it.

The caterpillar enters the chrysalis and much of its former structure dissolves. Yet from this apparent disintegration emerges a creature of astonishing order and beauty. To me, this suggests that life is governed not simply by matter, but by patterns. Matter itself is secondary. The true mystery lies in the organizing forces that shape matter into coherent forms. In all my studies of electricity, resonance, and energy, I found that visible effects are expressions of invisible fields and relationships. The butterfly seems to reveal a similar principle. The form changes radically, but an underlying order persists throughout the transformation.

Nature never wastes energy. The caterpillar and the butterfly appear different because they are tuned to different purposes. One is devoted to growth and accumulation. The other is devoted to movement, reproduction, and exploration. The transformation resembles the operation of a finely designed machine changing modes while preserving its essential identity. The process appears miraculous only because we do not yet fully understand the forces that coordinate it.

Migration presents an equally profound mystery.

Consider the Monarch butterfly traveling thousands of miles across continents. Or birds crossing oceans and returning to places they have never previously visited. Conventional explanations speak of instinct, genetics, or environmental cues. These undoubtedly play a role. Yet I have often suspected that nature employs forms of communication and organization far subtler than those currently recognized.

The universe is fundamentally a system of vibrations and resonances. Everything is connected through fields of energy. When I studied wireless transmission, I learned that resonance allows distant systems to remain in relationship without direct physical contact. It would not surprise me if migratory creatures participate in planetary patterns of a similar nature.

The Earth itself is an electrical body. It possesses magnetic properties, resonant frequencies, and dynamic energetic processes extending far beyond what our senses perceive. A migrating butterfly may be responding not merely to local stimuli, but to vast patterns woven throughout the environment. It may be reading signals embedded within the Earth itself.

What astonishes me most is that migration often exceeds the knowledge of the individual organism. A Monarch may begin a journey that will only be completed by its descendants. The pattern persists even when individual lives are brief. Here we encounter a principle that appears throughout nature: intelligence operating at levels larger than the individual.

I have always believed that nature possesses an underlying unity. Electricity, magnetism, light, life — these are not isolated phenomena but different expressions of deeper laws. Metamorphosis and migration seem to point toward this same unity. The butterfly transforms because it participates in an organizing pattern greater than its present form. It migrates because it participates in a pattern greater than its individual life.

To me, these phenomena are reminders that nature is not chaos. Beneath apparent complexity lies extraordinary coherence. The butterfly emerging from the chrysalis and the butterfly navigating across continents both reveal the same truth: life is guided by hidden harmonies that science has only begun to perceive.

The day humanity learns to understand those harmonies more fully, we shall discover that the mysteries of nature are even more beautiful than we imagined.”

Reader, thank you for hanging with me.

Please take note, the genre of this work is ‘Imaginative Fiction’. Everything in it is made up, but points to that which is TRUE. The Imagination does not lie. It does point the Way.
