Stop Memorizing Spanish. Start Speaking It.
Why Most Learners Study for Months and Still Cannot Hold a Real Conversation

Many people spend months — sometimes years — learning Spanish.
They buy grammar books. They memorize long lists of words. They watch videos about verb tables and irregular forms.
And then one day they finally meet a Spanish speaker.
The other person smiles and says something simple.
And suddenly everything disappears.
The learner knows the rules. The learner knows the vocabulary. But the learner still cannot speak.
Why?
Because most people are taught to study Spanish as information instead of using it as a language.
Spanish is not a collection of rules.
Spanish is movement. Rhythm. Reaction. Meaning.
You do not learn to speak by collecting grammar in your head. You learn to speak when your brain begins connecting words with real situations, real emotions and real communication.
That is why so many traditional methods fail.
They teach students to translate every sentence from English. They teach students to wait until they are “ready.” They make people believe that first you must become perfect, and only then you can begin speaking.
But real life works in the opposite direction.
You begin speaking first.
Then you improve.
The fastest students are not the ones who know the most grammar.
They are the ones who are willing to use the language immediately.
They learn how Spanish sounds. They repeat short phrases. They listen every day. They make mistakes. They notice patterns. And little by little, Spanish stops being something foreign.
It becomes natural.
If you want to speak conversational Spanish, start with the things you will actually use:
- saying hello
- introducing yourself
- asking simple questions
- ordering food
- talking about your work, family and daily life
- understanding how native speakers really speak
You do not need 5,000 words.
You need 50 useful phrases that you can use again and again.
You do not need to master every tense before you speak.
You need enough language to begin.
When students focus on real conversations instead of perfection, they improve much faster.
This is exactly how I teach.
As a teacher and translator working with students from more than 20 countries, I have seen the same pattern again and again: students progress when they stop trying to memorize everything and start learning how the language actually works.
The goal is not to recite rules.
The goal is to understand people, express yourself and feel confident in a real conversation.
That is why our Spanish lessons at Language Learnings and Levitin Language School are built differently.
We focus on:
- real speaking from the first lesson
- pronunciation and listening
- practical vocabulary
- simple grammar that supports communication
- thinking in Spanish instead of translating every sentence
- clear structure from beginner to advanced level
You can start from complete beginner level and move step by step:
- Spanish A1
- Spanish A2
- Spanish B1
- Spanish B2
But more importantly, you begin using the language from the very beginning.
Because fluency is not speed.
Fluency is the moment when you stop being afraid to speak.
