ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. — The Danville Otterbots handed the Elizabethton River Riders a 4–1 loss in Appalachian League action on Tuesday evening at Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark.

Elizabethton (15–19) delivered first, taking an early 1–0 lead on Lenox Lively’s ground out in the bottom of the second inning.

It didn’t take long for Danville (13–19) to answer back as it tied the game in the top of the third on Seth Smith’s single through the left side that plated Charlie Carter (Oklahoma State) to knot the score at 1–1.

Keeping their momentum going, the Otterbots scored a pair of runs in the top of the fourth for a lead they never relinquished. Antonio Cordeiro (St. Bonaventure) pushed the ‘Bots in front with his single that plated Garrett Shull (Oklahoma State) and Carter gave Danville a 3–1 lead with his single to left that scored Khaleel Pratt (Kentucky).

Mason Pangborn (Austin Peay State) capped the scoring in the top of the seventh driving in Carter with his flyout to center that gave the Otterbots a 4–1 lead heading into the final two-and-a-half innings.

Brandon Jung (Florida Southern) got the win on the bump, throwing six innings of one-hit, one-run ball while striking out nine. Tyler Davis (Spartanburg Methodist JC) got the save, striking out the side in the ninth.

Lively drove in Elizabethton’s lone run.

Danville returns to action tomorrow when it concludes the two-game set with the River Riders on the road at 6:30 p.m.
