Birthday Letter to Me By Me
Dear Faisal,
Birthday Letter to Me By Me
Me to Myself
Dear Faisal,
So, it’s your birthday.
Another orbit completed. Another year gathered into the body — in the joints, the tiredness behind the eyes, the subtle shifts in how silence feels.
People will say “Happy Birthday” today, as if joy is the only valid measure of a day like this. But you know better. You’ve lived long enough to sense the fracture lines beneath polished greetings. This day isn’t just about survival — it’s about reckoning.
Reckoning with the years you gave away to things you thought mattered. With the people who left, and those who stayed too long. With the silence that grew between you and the version of yourself you were supposed to become.
And yet, here you are.
You’ve carried your mind through wreckage. You’ve stayed soft in a world that demanded calluses. That’s no small thing. If there’s a message I would write to you today, it’s this:
Don’t rush to make meaning out of everything. Let some questions remain unclosed. Let some years be scaffolding for others. And let today be what it is — a page, not the whole book.
There is no manual for being this age, no candle that reveals who you were meant to be. But if you feel the weight of time pressing in, know that it’s not trying to bury you — it’s trying to shape you.
Write something. Burn something. Remember someone. Or don’t.
But whatever you do — don’t pretend.
You owe yourself that much.
