What’s the perfect example The epitome or explanation That will withstand the rigors Of closeup examination.
I’ve come up with some clichés But they don’t address the subject matter And involved a corporate tea party Hosted by the inimitable mad hatter.
So, then I tried hard to encapsulate The whirring thoughts trying my senses And the delicate balancing of the ledger Redressing wrongs and recompenses.
A thunderous roar above the roof Had me ducking and running for cover It turned out to be a rescue helicopter A memory, forgotten, then too hard to rediscover.
The rocky paths and roads I’ve trodden In my life and in my dreams Is the epitome of the elemental life I yearn Echoed in cool mountain streams.
Beyond the hills and great divide In quietness and solitude Stars spiral and drip from darkened skies Epitomised by thoughts and attitude.
Dolphins, dive and seagull’s wheel In early mornings out on the Bay And epitomize the way I feel Beyond words, I cannot say.
Drifting on a moonbeam Sailing the evening sky Dancing in perfect symmetry Gone in the blink of an eye.
Hazy dreams then dissipate Though the memory lingers on And personifies the way it is When absorbed in Nature’s song.
