Too Much of the Wrong Thing

Overwatered

My Ficus Bonsai lost all of its leaves. Not overnight, but over a quiet couple of weeks. It started with a slight yellowing nothing alarming, just a soft heads-up like a partner murmuring, “I’m not comfortable with this,” while you keep doing it anyway after all, what’s a few leaves to a full canopy? But then they began to drop. One by one, hitting the floor without a sound. In a panic, I kept watering. I didn’t check the soil to see if it was thirsty I just poured too much, terrified of not pouring enough. The clumsy desperation of giving everything, except what the other actually needs. Before I knew it, the branches were bald. Roots drowned. Color gone. Watch the green fade, Watch it all disappear And it’s just like relationships when you say “I don’t know how we got here.”
