Man allegedly tucked custody papers under ex-wife’s arm after fatally shooting her and her new husband at grocery store

A Nevada man with a “vendetta” against his ex-wife left child custody papers next to her bullet-riddled body after shooting her dead inside a Las Vegas grocery store, along with her new husband, according to court documents and police testimony.

Alejandro Estrada, 43, of Las Vegas, is accused of killing his ex-wife, Amanda Frias Rosas, 40, and her new husband, Victor Frias Rosas, inside the Smith’s grocery store, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

“As they were on the ground, he said he dropped his backpack to retrieve that red folder of documents, and then he took that and then he tucked that into Amanda’s arm,” a Las Vegas Metro police detective reportedly testified during a grand jury hearing.

“He said initially he shot them both approximately two to four times,” the detective testified, according to court transcripts obtained by local CBS affiliate KLAS.

According to local CBS affiliate KLAS, the Clark County district attorney’s office filed a notice and finding of financial responsibility that stated that Estrada — who had been ordered to pay $342 a month in child support — owed more than $2,800.

Amanda and Victor weren’t working that day but went to the store to buy a birthday cake for her son, whom she shared with Estrada and turned 12 on the day of the shooting, according to court records, the *Las Vegas Review* reported.

Store customers reported Estrada was “calmly walking” through the grocery store before and after the shooting until being tackled by a group of bystanders outside.

“He was completely calm. No expression. No nothing,” shopper Paula Milton told the Las Vegas Review-Journal of the alleged double murderer.

“You could tell it was him because everyone else was running and screaming, and he was like no big deal … “

Witnesses told local media outlets that Estrada was carrying a handgun and a rifle in a backpack.

Police confirmed during a press conference that he had “several different weapons” on him.

Noel Hernandez, Estrada’s roommate, said that Estrada despised Rosas for the child support owed, blaming the debt for a failed mortgage loan.

“He was mad because at that period or point when he got child support, he was in the process of buying a condo and when the child support got to him the loan officer had to stop everything… and he pretty much after that just hate her even more ’cause of that situation,” Hernandez testified.

Hernandez continued, saying: “..he told me that he knows that he’s going to get locked up because he didn’t pay his child support.”

Estrada allegedly told police the financial issues he was facing “all came to a head approximately a couple of weeks prior to the shooting,” Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department homicide detective Brandon Copley testified, the Las Vegas Review reported.

“He had received another notice that he would be going to court for his children, you know, as a result of Amanda seeking child support. It was at that time that he made the decision that she was going to be a constant nuisance in his life so he had to kill her.”

A grand jury indicted Estrada on a slew of charges, including two counts of murder with use of a deadly weapon; eight counts of discharge of a firearm from or within a structure or vehicle; and one count each of discharging a firearm at or into an occupied structure, vehicle, aircraft or watercraft; invasion of the home while in possession of a deadly weapon or firearm; and burglary while in possession of a firearm or deadly weapon, online court records show.

According to KLAS, prosecutors may seek the death penalty against him.

He is being held without bail, according to FOX 5 Las Vegas, and is scheduled to be arraigned on July 30.
