Note: This article pays homage to a Midjourney artist whose work I respect deeply. I have done some copying and screen capturing of his works directly from Facebook to display sample here. The creator of the images owns the images and the copyrights to any of the images that I didn’t create.

The artist who I am talking about is John Weber. I first discovered his work on the **Midjourney Images & Insights group. In this article I will present 3 galleries of images and screen capture of stunning Midjourney art created by John Weber.

A Gallery of Interesting Characters Created by John Weber

One of the things that struck me early on was that John has great talent for creating unique characters in his images. There are many, many examples in his feed.

Here are five recent examples (from 5/13/26 to now). Each of these images was posted with one or more similar image. Below each image is a link to the original set of images. You may want to visit them to see more examples of John fantastic characters.

One thing about the art that John shares on his Facebook is that he doesn’t often supply a prompt for each image. It is usually just a very short description of an idea. I understand his attempts to protect his IP (intellectual property) but I think I would learn more about text and properties he uses to achieve his images.

Taking John’s Art and Experimenting with It

As I always try to give my readers encouragement to take information from my articles and use in their own creations. I wanted to create a few images in the spirit of John’s art.

What I decided to do was to drop two of John’s images into Gemini, and to ask Gemini to create a prompt suitable for Midjourney that would try to recreate the main elements of the images.

For the first example, I uploaded the first image (Mr. and Mrs. Fancypants) and received a text prompt from Gemini. Here is a lightly edited version of the prompt that I used to create a similar image.

My two cents: I think that John’s original has more detail shadings of color than my creation, but the essential characters came out OK.

For the second example, I uploaded the fourth image from above (The raccoon and the old man). Here is the lightly edited version of the second prompt. I used it to create my own raccoon and old man.

My two cents: As in the first example I feel that John’s original has more detailed textures and a broader color palette than my attempt. Gemini did do a good job of getting a lot of the elements of each character.

John does create a lot of really interesting characters but he also creates a lot of images with totally different subject matter and styles.

Going Further with Images from These Sets

I asked Gemini to create two more prompts for me. The first one would be to create a glass apple like the first image in set 2. Here is the lightly edited prompt that I used.

For the second image of this section, I chose to use the first image in set 3.

So that I could do a simple comparison I decided to try using the ‘describe’ feature in Midjourney to create my image.

You can see some of the obvious differences between these two images. Describe thought the animal was a platypus, I thought it was a duck in the original. There are also some differences in scale, textures, and coloring.

I wanted to go one step further by editing the prompt to change the animal subject of the image.

I changed the two references to “platypus” to “alligator” and “and a prominent bill” to “prominent teeth”. Here is the image from the modified prompt.

Note: You may have noticed in previous two prompts that I added a “seed” parameter. This seed marks the pattern of noise that Midjourney uses to start the image. Because the two images use the same seed value they start generating from the same random noise pattern.

The final section of this article displays some individual image from very simple prompts. The subjects and styles of each of these images are very diverse.
