There’s No Time
We quietly opened the door, trying not to make any noise. We noticed stairs leading down, illuminated by soft lights. We entered one by one. As soon as we reached the bottom, we heard someone murmuring. Alert, we followed the sound and found Kriti speaking to someone. In front of her was an entire system — signals, locations, base camp — everything. She had known everything from the very beginning. I was shocked, wondering what Carrie was thinking. She looked worried, her face showing sadness and fear.
Before I could ask her anything, Kriti spoke in a loud voice, “Everything is in place; we just need to start it! Yes! Yes! I know I’ll have that machine very soon. After that, no one can stop us!”
“What is she talking about? Is she referring to the missing part?” I whispered quietly.
“I think so,” Carrie replied. Then Kriti asked, “But what should I do about the others who might feel suspicious?” Carrie and I froze at that. She glanced around as if she knew something important. She patted my arm and urged me to come outside, but I expressed through my eyes that we needed to find out what was happening next. However, she insisted we leave. So, we exited the security area, leaving Kriti’s conversation on the phone behind us.
The moment we came out, she said, “You need to wake yourself up right now!’
“Wake myself?” I was flabbergasted. “What do you mean by “wake my-self” up?”
“Right now, you are sleeping up there in your house; you need to wake up. If Kriti kills you, you will disappear from this world instantly; you don’t exist.” Carrie said in a fast pace.
“Kill me? Oh my — she’s right; I will totally be gone from this world like I never existed. I need to wake myself up, but how?” I said to myself.
“Do you have your house keys?” She said instantly.
I searched myself, my pockets, pants, and back pockets, thinking I might have forgotten it back at camp.
But. It was there! The Key! It was there.
“Great, wear your mask just so that they won’t be able to recognise you! Alright, now, run!”
“What about you?” I said;
“She won’t kill me, I’m her sister!”
“Okay, but be safe; I’ll meet you in a few minutes.” After leaving Carrie, I made a run to my house.
I took the stairs and reached my doorstep. I looked at the key and thought it might be a good move. Before I could open it, my walkie-talkie started to static, I grabbed it and said “Hello?”
“It’s Carrie! Meet me at the security system! fast!

Me and Me, You and You
I was scared she might be in trouble; I went in and headed straight to my door, opened it as fast as I could, and shook myself hard so I could wake myself up. “Wake up! Wake up! There’s no time, wake up!” The moment I got up, I made a run outside, making noise with the table and furniture, and went to Carrie’s house without looking back. I reached and went inside to see Carrie standing all alone.
“Where is Kriti?” I said, I was out of breath.
But Carrie was silent. She was looking at something kept on the table. I moved forward, and as I reached her, my eyes went to the corner and gave me a shock I wasn’t expecting. Another Turnstile was present.
“What — What is this doing here?” I couldn’t understand anything. Was another turnstile present in our building without anyone knowing? What was going on?” I looked towards Carrie, who was still standing looking at the table.
I went close to her. “Are you okay?”
She was weeping quietly, looking at a note written on the table. “What happened?”
Carrie looked at me, filled with tears, showed me the note, and with heavy breathing, she spoke;
“I — I know this handwriting!” she wept.
“Really? Who?” My eyes were curious.
“My Dad!”
I went completely blank. My surroundings started to fade. “Her Dad?” That means Mr Patel? Mr Patel was behind all of this? We both were lost, thinking about what had taken place.
But I couldn’t just sit around; I had to do something before they arrived. “What’s written on that note, Carrie?”
Carrie gave me while she whimpered.
I took it and started to read;
Everything is set; we just need to break through once to make it all happen.Once the breakthrough occurs, both machines will be under our control. Kriti and Carrie will be part of this mission, and they will assist in obtaining the second part of the plan. Kriti, my beloved, I trust you with this. I hope you won’t disappoint me in this, Carrie. I’m sorry that I’m keeping this all from you, but trust me, this is for our own good.

N — Not N — Now
After reading it, I looked towards Carrie.
“So, this was all my father’s plan,” she continued. “His telling me to go with my sister was all his plan? Was his plan more important than us being alive? Carrie crashed out. I looked around to see if we could do something. I just looked around the Turnstile to see if I could find something useful. As I was looking, I stumbled upon a silver briefcase. I had a feeling that it was important. It had no lock, surprisingly. I opened it, and I was right. It had one section with black outlines and white stripes around it. It was packed in a very high-octane way, like it could not be opened easily. But it is being. Open says that Mr Patel was here!
Before I could say something to Carrie, Kriti and her father came in, and seeing us, he shouted,
“Hey, you! Give that back!”
I froze listening to him. Carrie moved instantly, pushing us both into the Turnstile. Mr Patel came running like a mad dog but couldn’t catch us.
We fell, not knowing where we had arrived. But we had to move fast, so we made a run. No one was there in the security system. The moment we came outside, the sky had a different color. The effect had taken place. “What time is it?” I said, sighed.
“Don’t know, but we need to move fast!” Carrie said.
I nodded, and we went straight to the second base camp from where we had come.
