When you are not here, this house loses its soul

our garden no longer smiles

and everything wanders astray from meaning.

Your presence kindles a quiet magic

a joy that seeps into every corner.

You are precious for what you give

for your vivid embrace of Life

and all it lays before us each day,

for the lightness with which you move

gentle steps, no needless friction.

When you are here

even if the sun does not shine

a tender warmth dwells in our home

a calm abides in this space,

unfolding beyond the borders of here and now.

I do not know whether observation truly collapses the wave functions

within the microtubules of our brains, birthing classical reality

but I know that your wandering shifts the horizon

and fills me with gratitude for these moments beside you

where time dissolves, and space gathers at the tips of our fingers.
