Missing Chuckles
Remembering Ben
Ben had a wonderful sense of humor. He was never afraid of being silly, especially with me and with our grandchildren. He danced and sang, told jokes, and made us laugh almost every day. For me, if not a full-body laugh, at least a good chuckle. I called him my silly goose.
Since he died almost 26 months ago, I rarely chuckle and never experience a full-body laugh. Even smiles come less often. When you’re alone most of the time, who do you smile for?

I miss his humor. I miss laughing. I miss my silly goose.
Life alone is mirthless. No humor-filled conversations. No jokes. No singing and dancing. No laughter. Not even a chuckle.
There are so many things to miss when someone dies. One of the main things I miss about Ben is his sense of humor. I miss the fun we had just being together.
I am surviving, but my life lacks fun. My life is without chuckles.
I miss the man who made me laugh every day.
