Is There Gas in the Car? Yes, There’s Gas in the Car!

I make a lot of references to a big Ancient History Deep Dive I began after having quite the nervous breakdown in 2017. I wanted to know all I could about humanity and this thing called civilization. It’s hard to overemphasize just how doomed I felt like we all were. I mean, don’t get me wrong, we’re still doomed, but it was oddly therapeutic to rake the coals for any clue as to how we came to be this way. I went year by year, going through each time period with the seriousness of a scholar, and I imagined myself in each era as much as I existed out in the real world.

Until recently, I didn’t quite know what to do with any of this information as not much of it was applicable to the here and now. It was honestly just therapy. And if I were to, I don’t know, DO something about it, it almost felt like that would cheapen it somehow. It was only until recently when the story that needed to be told came around in the narrative. Because, really, the narrative is what it’s all about.

Christmas has come to a new meaning this year. The solstice, when things are at their darkest, the only time a holy light can come shining through.

The end of one story. The start of another. What can one do with ashes? Find the holiest light you can find and hang on.
