Another Restless Morning Without Warning

I am up again at 4 AM, unable to sleep, with obligations to keep.

I see the dirty floor, recognise the chore and know I must sweep,

But I am tired, not inspired, must find the will to continue working,

There has been more than enough lingering and excessive shirking,

I realise how much I have failed, what great hopes regaled and lost,

Everything important in life has its cost, and can easily be tossed,

But hopefully better days, wiser ways, more consistent plays emerge,

And for once, all of us will find the will and fully embrace the urge,

Beginning to find discipline and fortitude and forcefully follow through,

To do what we need to do, to finally reject the old ways for the new!

I know it sounds cliché, that we must finally choose the better path,

But that for once, we should try to embrace the wiser aftermath,

Finding something productive to do and not muddling through,

Instead of living all our regular ways, we finally choose the new,

We find enthusiasm and genuine regard, to fully want to change.

To commit to reconsideration and our lives finally rearrange,

Virtue is never simple. Wisdom requires intent; time is spent,

And before the coming catastrophe let us commit to repent,

To become better, wiser, happier versions of ourselves,

To remove the unread virtue books from cluttered shelves,

To finally commit to becoming those worthy of praise,

It would be nice, for a change, to have better, happier days!
