Teachable has a problem and it’s Fenzo.ai.

Teachable helped creators sell online courses. Fenzo.ai is asking a more disruptive question: what if AI could build the course too?

For years, creating an online course followed a predictable process.

You chose a topic, outlined the curriculum, wrote lesson scripts, recorded videos, designed exercises, uploaded everything to a platform, created a sales page, and hoped enough people bought the finished product to justify the effort.

Platforms like Teachable made the final part of that process dramatically easier. They gave independent creators the infrastructure to host lessons, collect payments, manage students, and turn expertise into a digital product without building an entire education platform from scratch.

That model helped create the modern creator economy.

It also came with one enormous assumption: the creator still had to make the course.

After spending time with Fenzo.ai, I am beginning to think that assumption is about to become a serious problem for traditional course platforms.

Fenzo is not simply another place to upload lessons. It is an AI-powered online course creator that can generate a structured learning path around a topic, complete with explanations, interactive widgets, exercises, quizzes, and practical activities.

That difference may sound small at first. It is not.

Teachable helps you distribute a course that already exists. Fenzo.ai helps create the course in the first place.

Teachable Solved the Distribution Problem

To understand why Fenzo feels significant, it helps to recognize what platforms like Teachable originally changed.

Before creator platforms became popular, selling a course online required considerable technical work. You needed a website, payment processing, video hosting, student accounts, email systems, and some way to organize lessons into a usable experience.

Teachable bundled that infrastructure into one product. A creator could focus on teaching while the platform handled much of the operational complexity behind enrollment, delivery, and payments.

That was a major improvement over building everything independently.

However, Teachable primarily begins after the creator has already done the hardest intellectual work. The instructor still needs to decide what the course should teach, how the lessons should be ordered, which examples should be included, and how learners should practice the material.

The platform makes publishing easier, but course creation can still take weeks or months.

That is the gap Fenzo.ai is entering.

Fenzo Starts Before the Course Exists

The most interesting thing about Fenzo is that you do not need to arrive with a finished curriculum.

You can begin with a topic.

When I wanted to learn Python fundamentals, I used Fenzo.ai to generate a complete course. Later, I used it again to create courses around Claude Code, data structures, Kubernetes, and distributed systems.

Each topic produced a different curriculum because each subject required a different learning sequence. The Python course moved through variables, strings, collections, functions, modules, and exceptions. Course Creation Has Always Been the Bottleneck

Most people underestimate how much work goes into a good online course.

Knowing a subject is not the same as knowing how to teach it. A creator must decide what beginners need first, which concepts can wait, where learners are likely to struggle, and how each lesson should prepare them for the next.

Then comes the production work. Lessons need to be written or recorded, supporting diagrams must be created, exercises must be designed, quizzes must be reviewed, and examples need to be tested.

Even a relatively short technical course can become a major project.

That effort is one reason so many aspiring course creators never publish anything. They may have valuable knowledge, but turning that knowledge into a coherent curriculum requires time, instructional design skills, and sustained production discipline.

Instead of facing a blank outline, the creator receives a complete first version of the learning journey. That version can then be reviewed, refined, expanded, or personalized.

AI does not eliminate the need for judgment, but it removes a great deal of blank-page work.

The easiest criticism of AI-generated courses is that they are simply long articles divided into chapters.

That was one of my concerns before using Fenzo.

If the product had only generated explanations, I would have seen it as a convenient content tool rather than a serious learning platform. ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI systems can already produce tutorials and lesson outlines.

What made Fenzo feel different was the interactive layer.

The courses I created included code exercises, architecture diagrams, quizzes, visual simulations, terminal walkthroughs, matching activities, and widgets that allowed concepts to be explored rather than merely read.

In the Kubernetes course, I could work through scheduling decisions, rollout settings, probe behavior, and debugging flows. In the data structures course, I could watch array elements shift, trace linked-list pointers, compare stack and queue order, and observe collisions inside a hash table.

That interactivity matters because learning is not simply content consumption. Learners need to predict, test, fail, correct, and apply.

A traditional course platform can host interactive material, but the creator is usually responsible for building it. Fenzo generates much of that experience as part of the course.

That is a meaningful change in who performs the instructional-design work.

Traditional Platforms Are Built Around Static Courses

Once a conventional course is published, it tends to remain relatively fixed.

The instructor may update a lesson, add a module, or replace an outdated video, but every learner generally receives the same core curriculum. The course has a defined beginning, middle, and end that were decided before the student arrived.

That model works well when the subject is stable and the course has been carefully refined. It becomes less effective when learners have different backgrounds or when the technology changes quickly.

A beginner may need additional fundamentals. An experienced developer may want to skip them. Someone preparing for an interview may care about different topics than someone building a production project.

Fenzo points toward a more dynamic model.

An AI-generated course can theoretically be created around a particular goal, level, deadline, or use case. A learner might ask for a beginner introduction, a weekend crash course, an interview-preparation path, or a project-focused curriculum.

Instead of one course attempting to satisfy every learner, multiple versions can be generated for different objectives.

That is difficult to achieve with a static course catalog.

The Economics of Course Creation Could Change

Traditional online-course economics reward scale.

A creator invests significant time and money into producing one course, then sells the same product to as many people as possible. The larger the audience, the easier it becomes to justify the upfront production cost.

AI course creation introduces a different possibility.

If the cost and time required to create a course fall dramatically, courses no longer need enormous audiences to be worthwhile. A creator could produce more focused courses for smaller niches, individual companies, specific roles, or narrow learning goals.

A generic “Learn Python” course might become several targeted courses:

  • Python for data analysts
  • Python automation for operations teams
  • Python interview preparation
  • Python for finance professionals
  • Python for complete programming beginners

Traditional creators can already build these courses, but doing so requires separate production cycles. An AI course creator can make specialization much easier.

This does not only affect creators. It changes what learners can expect.

Instead of buying the closest course available, they may begin expecting a course designed around their exact context.

Teachable Still Has Important Advantages

It would be premature to suggest that Fenzo makes Teachable irrelevant.

Teachable and similar platforms still provide tools that matter deeply to professional course businesses. Creators need storefronts, payment processing, audience management, analytics, branding, customer communication, and reliable content delivery.

Experienced instructors also contribute something AI cannot easily reproduce: judgment shaped by years of teaching the same subject. Great teachers know which misconceptions repeatedly appear, which stories make concepts memorable, and which exercises genuinely prepare learners for real work.

There is also value in personality. Many learners do not only buy information. They buy access to a particular instructor’s experience, voice, reputation, and community.

Fenzo’s advantage is not that those strengths disappear. Its advantage is that course creation can begin much earlier and move much faster.

The likely future is not Teachable versus Fenzo in a simple winner-takes-all contest. It is a world where traditional platforms either integrate AI course creation or risk becoming only the final publishing layer.

The Real Threat Is a Change in Expectations

The most important challenge Fenzo creates for Teachable is not a missing feature.

It is a shift in what users expect from a course platform.

Once people become accustomed to typing a topic and receiving a complete interactive curriculum, uploading lessons manually may begin to feel slow. Once learners experience courses generated around their goals, fixed curricula may begin to feel unnecessarily rigid.

This pattern has appeared across other software categories.

Website builders reduced the need to code a site manually. Design tools made professional layouts accessible to non-designers. AI coding tools now generate working features from natural-language instructions.

Course platforms may be next.

The question is no longer whether AI can help write a lesson description or generate a quiz. The question is whether AI can participate in designing the entire educational experience.

Fenzo suggests that the answer is increasingly yes.

This Could Create More Course Creators

One of the more optimistic outcomes is that AI course creators may expand the number of people capable of teaching online.

Many professionals have valuable knowledge but do not consider themselves course creators. They may lack video-production skills, instructional-design experience, or the time required to turn years of expertise into a structured program.

Fenzo lowers that barrier.

A subject-matter expert can begin with their knowledge and use AI to generate the first curriculum, lesson structure, exercises, and interactive components. The expert can then focus on reviewing accuracy, adding personal experience, improving examples, and introducing the nuance that comes from real work.

That division of labor makes sense.

AI handles structure and repetition. The human adds credibility, judgment, and lived experience.

Instead of replacing course creators, tools like Fenzo may create an entirely new generation of them.

It Could Also Make Average Courses Easier to Produce

There is, however, another side to this.

Lowering the barrier to course creation means more courses will be produced, but not all of them will be good. AI can generate plausible explanations, yet plausible does not always mean correct, current, or pedagogically sound.

Creators still need to review technical accuracy, verify examples, test exercises, and decide whether the generated sequence makes sense for the intended learner.

Without that oversight, AI course platforms could flood the internet with polished but shallow curricula.

This is where human expertise becomes even more important. When course generation becomes easy, quality control becomes the differentiator.

The best creators will not simply publish whatever AI produces. They will treat the generated course as a strong first draft and improve it with their own experience.

My rule: AI can accelerate the curriculum, but the creator must still own the truth.

What Fenzo Did Better Than I Expected

After creating several courses with Fenzo.ai, the most impressive part was not the speed.

It was the coherence.

Each course had a recognizable learning arc. Concepts appeared in a sensible order, later lessons referred back to earlier ones, and interactive widgets reinforced the ideas that were difficult to understand through text alone.

The platform also made it easy to explore topics that I might not have purchased a complete course for. If I needed a focused introduction to Kubernetes, distributed systems, or Claude Code, I could generate a learning path without committing to a broad curriculum designed for everyone.

That flexibility changed my relationship with online learning.

I stopped thinking only in terms of courses that already existed and began thinking about courses that could be created on demand.

Where Fenzo Still Needs to Grow

Fenzo’s model is exciting, but it is not finished.

I would like to see stronger creator controls for editing course structure, enforcing learning objectives, and applying consistent teaching styles across several generated courses. Advanced creators will also need deeper analytics, collaboration tools, assessment options, and the ability to package courses for different audiences.

Larger capstone projects would strengthen many generated courses. Individual interactive widgets are useful, but a full project that combines several lessons is often where deeper understanding develops.

There is also room for expert verification. Courses on technical, medical, legal, or financial topics would benefit from transparent review workflows so learners know where the material came from and who validated it.

These are meaningful challenges, but they feel like product-development problems rather than flaws in the underlying idea.

So, Does Teachable Really Have a Problem?

I think it does, but not because creators will abandon Teachable tomorrow.

The problem is that the definition of a course platform is expanding.

Hosting, payments, and student management used to be enough. Soon, creators may expect the same platform to help design the curriculum, generate interactive lessons, personalize learning paths, update outdated material, and provide an AI tutor inside every course.

Fenzo.ai is already moving in that direction.

If traditional platforms remain focused only on hosting completed courses, they risk becoming infrastructure beneath the more intelligent layer where the learning experience is actually created.

That does not mean Teachable disappears. It means Teachable may need to evolve from a course-hosting platform into an AI-assisted education platform.

Final Thoughts

Teachable helped democratize course publishing.

Fenzo.ai may help democratize course creation.

That is why I think Teachable has a problem.

The challenge is not that Fenzo has a better video player or a more attractive checkout page. The challenge is that it begins earlier in the process, at the moment when someone has knowledge or curiosity but no curriculum.

After generating several complete technical courses, I no longer see AI course creators as simple content tools. They are becoming instructional-design systems capable of turning a topic into a structured, interactive learning experience.

Traditional course platforms still have enormous strengths, and expert-led education will remain valuable. However, the future of online learning may not be defined by who hosts the largest catalog.

It may be defined by who can create the right course the moment someone asks for it.

Right now, Fenzo.ai appears to understand that future better than most.
