From Client Wins to Mayfair: A Serendipitous Journey in Luxury, Art, and Handbag Preservation
Reflecting on a lifetime spent surrounding myself with fine art, luxury communications, and the full lifecycle of luxury design.
There is a quiet magic in looking back at your career and realizing that every seemingly disparate thread was actually weaving the exact same tapestry.
Earlier in my career, whenever I landed a major client or crossed a significant professional milestone, I rewarded myself with a piece of tangible art: a new designer handbag to add to my growing collection. To the uninitiated, a handbag might seem like a simple accessory. But to anyone who appreciates construction, materials, and heritage, an iconic bag is a masterpiece of sculpture, architecture, and leather artisanry.
Throughout my communications career, I’ve been drawn to environments where beauty and craftsmanship reign supreme. I’ve led public relations and marketing initiatives alongside renowned fine art galleries, historic textile manufacturers, luxury furniture houses, master watchmakers, and fine jewelry designers. Across every discipline, the constant has always been a profound respect for the hands that make beautiful things.

Sotheby’s Institute London
Who could have predicted that years later, my strategic communications work would lead me into deep collaboration with Margaret’s the Couture Cleaner — a premier institution dedicated precisely to the cleaning, restoration, and preservation of couture handbags and fine apparel?
It feels entirely serendipitous. The very objects of art I spent years admiring and collecting are now at the center of the brand strategies I build.
To continue elevating our strategic positioning, brand trust, and archival authority within the luxury sector, I recently traveled to London to complete the Handbag Authentication course at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.
Held at Sotheby’s London location, the course provided an extraordinary level of rigor. The sessions were led by Sally He from Rosebery’s London, who oversees all overseas luxury auctions. Studying alongside an expert of her caliber — analyzing stitch counts, hardware alloys, rare leathers, brand codes, and historical provenance — was an incredible masterclass in authenticity.
A standout moment of the program was spending a day at the new Bunboo location in the heart of Mayfair. Tucked away as a discreet space for luxury consignment, Bunboo offered the ideal setting to examine rare, secondary-market treasures up close.
A deep understanding of retail, resale, and the full luxury cycle is essential for any brand strategist or PR expert today. Recognizing how value flows from primary retail into the secondary resale market and into circular preservation enables us to position a company for enduring commercial and cultural success.
When you care for a heritage piece — whether it’s an archival garment, a timepiece, or a vintage Hermès or Chanel handbag — you aren’t just cleaning leather or fabric. You are preserving memories, history, and extraordinary artistic human effort.
Looking back on those early client wins and the bags I bought to celebrate them, I realize now that I wasn’t just collecting luxury items — I was building a relationship with craftsmanship that continues to define my agency’s work across the luxury and art sectors.
