Compassion Behind Bars: Bengkulu Prison Receives Chair Donation from Catholic Church

Bengkulu — The Class IIA Bengkulu Correctional Facility continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing personality development services for inmates, particularly in the spiritual sector. This was reflected in the receipt of a donation of 20 chairs from the Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church Bengkulu on Thursday (April 9).

The donation was officially received by the Head of Administration for Security and Order (Kasi ADM Kamtib), Supian Natalis, representing the Bengkulu Class IIA Prison. The chairs were handed over by RP. Paulus Yose Pratama, Assistant Priest of St. John the Evangelist Parish Bengkulu.

The donated chairs are intended to improve the facilities of the Getsemany Church within the prison, supporting pastoral services and spiritual guidance activities for Christian inmates.

On this occasion, Supian Natalis expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the church’s concern and support toward the inmates. He emphasized that such contributions play an important role in creating a more humane correctional environment focused on mental and spiritual recovery.

“This assistance is very beneficial, especially in improving the comfort of inmates during worship and spiritual development activities. We hope this synergy will continue in the future,” he stated.

Meanwhile, RP. Paulus Yose Pratama explained that the donation represents the church’s commitment to supporting spiritual services for all congregants, including those undergoing rehabilitation within correctional institutions.

With this support, religious activities at Bengkulu Class IIA Prison are expected to run more optimally and positively contribute to the inmates’ personal transformation.
