A 100-word story about stepping outside, watching the sunrise, and rediscovering quiet wonder in everyday life.

The alarm startled him awake. Groaning, he reached to turn it off — then remembered.

It’s Saturday.

He was about to fall asleep again, when he paused. When was the last time he watched the sunrise?

He cocooned himself in his doona and stepped outside. Slowly, the sky turned from blue-black to pale blue. The yellow tinge transforming to melted-butter yellow as the sun gloriously arrived, its warmth chasing the chill from the air.

A quiet, magical performance. Most days, it went unnoticed. But not today.

He stood still, breathing it all in, humbled by the beauty of the natural world.

Prompt: Write a story that starts with your character waking up to an alarm.
