Without it, these acts of worship are futile. If the #soul is inclined towards evil, no pure words or light can reside in your heart. Therefore, purifying the soul is necessary. That’s why the Quran says: ‘Qad Aflaha Mann Tazakka’ ‘Successful is he who purifies his carnal self (Nafs).’ Success in what? In awakening the heart, attaining #faith, and why is #awakening the heart so important? Because malice, arrogance, envy — all these diseases reside within the heart. They have been planted by Satan. In a hadith, it is written that even an ounce of arrogance in someone’s heart makes them unworthy of Paradise. So you’ve spent your life in prayer, fasting, recitation, but you haven’t acquired the knowledge that purifies the heart. Now comes the Day of Judgment, Your deeds weigh heavy on the scale. Ultimately, the heart is examined, and if it is found filled with arrogance, all those acts of worship become worthless. Even a small amount of arrogance renders one unworthy of Paradise. This is what Muslims need to understand: all acts of worship are on one side, but what matters is the purity of the heart. Without it, these acts of worship are futile.
