CB certification is a form of conformity assessment for products and is widely used internationally, particularly outside the United States and Canada. It enables manufacturers to demonstrate that their products comply with international safety standards, making it easier to access multiple global markets. This certification can be applied to products imported into countries that recognize the CB Scheme, helping reduce duplication of testing and certification procedures.

CB certification is administered under the IECEE system of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and it provides a CB Test Certificate along with a detailed test report. These documents are accepted by participating countries, allowing manufacturers to more easily obtain national certifications.

In addition to CB certification, manufacturers exporting products to Thailand must comply with TIS certification, issued by the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI). TIS certification ensures that products meet Thailand’s national safety and quality standards.

TIS certification can be either mandatory or voluntary, depending on the product category. Products such as electrical appliances, industrial equipment, and consumer goods often require mandatory TIS approval before they can be imported or sold in Thailand. Certified products must display the TIS mark, indicating compliance with Thai regulations.

Obtaining TIS certification typically involves:

• Product testing in approved laboratories
• Submission of technical documentation
• Factory inspection (in some cases)
• Ongoing compliance monitoring

For manufacturers, combining CB certification with TIS approval can significantly simplify the process, as CB test reports are often accepted as a basis for TIS evaluation. This reduces time, cost, and effort when entering the Thai market.
