Have you ever read that just connected with you?

In my last post, I had written that I am currently reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. This is my first ever book in the field of philosophy, and it was a real challenge trying to decipher what this book is trying to convey. But it was still not that hard, as I have read some books of the same difficulty level. As I have delved more deeper into this book, I realized that the ideals in this book are something that I would implement in my own life too.
The book’s insights on death, life, morality really made me rethink. And I think that’s what a good book’s supposed to do, allow you to think about things that you probably never have, allow you to explore your own opinions on something that’s not a mainstream topic to have a conversation about. The most recent chapter taught me humility. It talked about how a human’s life is short, and even those who were praised after their death, will be forgotten at some point of time, simply because those who praised them will also die.
The very first chapter was all about gratitude. Marcus Aurelius really made me wonder how many people are there in our life who shape us, from our parents to friends to siblings. The very simple teachings of be good, don’t talk behind someone’s back etc., are morals which we have heard a lot of times but probably don’t put into action. This book was like a reminder to me. Much of the ideals taught in this book I could relate to, and that’s why I am motivated to finish this book, even when it challenges me.
Another reason why I liked this so much apart from a feeling of connected ness to it is that the words used in the book are not very complex, except a few, but the way the sentences are structured make it harder to understand. The sentences are long and may have metaphors that I have not caught till now. As a literary read, this book is helping me a lot to improve my reading difficulty level, while also being a little delve into philosophy. So, add this book to my list of recommendations as well!
Thanks for reading! Have a nice day!
