Italy Tuscany Travel: Recommended Agriturismo Podere Brizio

Out of the six places I stayed in Italy, Agriturismo Podere Brizio was by far the best! I just had to share my experience for anyone planning a road trip through Italy — this is a must-visit!

Podere Brizio feels like a warm spring garden and is located just 10 minutes from Montalcino in the beautiful Tuscany region.

If you’re traveling through Tuscany by rental car, even if it’s a bit out of your way, trust me, it’s totally worth booking this place!

Room Condition

We booked a deluxe double room, and let me tell you, after staying at a famous agriturismo the day before that felt damp and dark, this place was a breath of fresh air! The bedding was crisp and bright, making it so cozy.

The bathroom had a charming, fairy-tale vibe, just like something out of a European storybook. Just a heads up, the deluxe double room doesn’t have a bathtub.

The view from the window was so romantic! I left the window open, and a gentle breeze flowed in, making it even more delightful.

Activities

There were so many fun things to do right at the agriturismo! Let me break it down for you:

First up, there’s a sauna on the property!

You can enjoy a warm, air-massage hot tub (swimwear required) and a lovely Finnish sauna. I absolutely adore Finnish saunas, where you can pour water over the stones to create a warm, steamy atmosphere. Who knew I could enjoy this in Italy?

There’s also a large outdoor pool, but since I visited in September, it was a bit chilly, so I just lounged on a chair instead. The best time for swimming would definitely be from May to early September.

And guess what? There’s an outdoor tennis court too! The reception offers free rentals for tennis balls and rackets, so my husband and I had a blast playing.

Oh, and there’s a friendly cat that loves to follow people around! The owner told me it was a stray that found its way here and has been loved ever since.

Dinner and Breakfast

Dinner (for a fee) and breakfast (free!) are served in a separate private building.

I signed up for dinner during check-in, and it was served from 7:30 PM to 10 PM, perfectly timed for Italian dining!

Dinner cost €87 per person and included an appetizer, two main courses, and a dessert — four courses in total! Each dish was a delightful surprise, and I loved the culture of chatting with the people at the next table while enjoying our meal.

Each table had two bottles of olive oil, and the owner generously drizzled it over every dish. I learned that this is how Italians enjoy their olive oil, and wow, it really does make everything taste better!

I ordered a bottle of the agriturismo’s signature wine, and it was so delicious that I brought a bottle back home — only to find my brother has already finished it! Just a tip: ordering wine at the restaurant is pricier than ordering it at the reception (€68 at the restaurant vs. €55 at reception).

Breakfast is served in the same lovely space.

Just like other agriturismos, the breakfast spread included cheese, fruit, bread, yogurt, and eggs. Personally, I felt the breakfast at the place I visited the day before was a bit more abundant!

Pricing

I booked the deluxe double room for a weekday stay, and with taxes included, it was in the range of $184 (with free cancellation).
