My life is a bit of a global puzzle. I’m originally from Japan, but these days, I live deep in the forest of Quebec, Canada, with my British husband, Chris. Living surrounded by nature has its own rhythm, but once a year, we swap the quiet woods for our regular family visit back to the UK.
By now, you’d think I’m totally used to British life. I love the local ales, the gorgeous walking trails, and a cozy evening tea.
But on our recent trip, I decided to do a little mental exercise: What if I stripped away years of familiarity and looked at a British home through fresh eyes again?
