Do you remember as a kid playing video games in school? Did you think they were effective at the time? Now that we are either a teacher or working towards becoming a teacher, would you ever consider having games implemented into a lesson? I remember as a student we had a special class that once a week we would practice our game-based learning skills. At the time, I did not see the effectiveness. However, after reading the article 5 Tips for Using Digital Games in Class, it makes sense why we were always doing Digital Game-Based Learning. The article says “when used in educational settings, digital games have the power to immerse students in a rich learning environment.” I want what is best for my future students. If the students are into playing Cool Math Games as a brain break, I would want them to find a game that is educational. This way they have a balance of having a brain break and also learning math at the same time.

Demostrates how Game-Based Learning can enhance a student’s mind

I think that it is important to be able to take what students enjoy, which as technology advances, students love anything that has a screen. Instead of ignoring this issue, I will use this information to make screens and games educational for my students. Some children need extra assistants to stay engaged in school. By having a fun way of learning by games, students are more inclined to learn the material. It is very crucial for a child to be a part of a fun learning environment so that they have a safe place in school and they can reach their full potential.
