Galatians 6:2 NIV
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
As Christians we often have this idea, that we need to do it all ourselves, when something hard or tragic happens we often want to turn away, and shut ourselves off from the tragic thing, we don’t want to face a hard reality, or help someone we love carry that burden, but that’s exactly what we are called to do.
Members of our Churches Prayer team, myself included along with some of my closest Church friends we are often called upon to pray in situations that are absolutely heartbreaking in fact in the past fifteen months or so many of our team members were the ones needing prayer, and we were there!
I called my Friend M today, I call her or she calls me everyday because I know the past couple of years have been extremely emotionally and physically draining, she lost so much, so many in this time, and has carried that weight with her, but as we grow closer, she’s letting me in more and more, allowing me to help her carry that burden though I know that’s not really possible, at least not in the sense many think, but how do I help carry her burden or any other burden for that matter? I simply offer a safe place to open up, but most importantly I pray.
~~
I am aware that there are paths we walk alone, but I do believe that there are times that the Lord uses the people in our lives to bring us comfort, as if the Lord himself is giving him that comfort, and he is through the people he places in our lives and sometimes those very people become family, so though bearing one another burdens can be heavy at times, he gives us the strength to do so, and often ends us blessing us!
M’s story is not my story to tell but the past couple of years of getting to know her, and the past 15 months of a deepening friendship has showed me what true strength is, true endurance is, and as much as she has said I’ve taught her, I’ve been there for her, she has taught me so much more!

The loses so many have experienced over the past few years will not leave us, the pain is still there, but something else is there too, the joy in serving the one true Lord! And the bonds built in moments of pain are perhaps the strongest of all!
