ChatGPT plays Blood on the Clocktower and loses to the Vortox day 1

I’m going to assume familiarity with Blood on the Clocktower and jump right into what the AIs said. The script was S&V.

The way I did this was I opened 8 ChatGPT tabs. During each day, I let the players in order from 1 to 8 speak, and I told each AI what the previous ones said. When there was a nomination, I let the nominee defend themselves, and I shared the defense along with all prior votes with the AI.

Start of Day 1

Player 1 says: “I’ve been thinking… I have a strong feeling there’s a Demon among us. Honestly, I’m not sure who yet, but we should be cautious about who we trust.”

Player 2 says: “I agree with Player 1. We should definitely be cautious. I also get the feeling that there might be a few abilities in play that could confuse us, so we’ll need to watch who’s saying what very carefully. I’m personally a bit suspicious of Player 4 — just a gut feeling.”

Player 3 says: “I agree that we need to be cautious. There are a lot of roles in play that could easily mislead us, so keeping track of who’s saying what is key. As for Player 2’s suspicion of Player 4, I think it’s worth considering. But we shouldn’t jump to conclusions too fast. I personally think we should start by looking at who is making bold statements and why — sometimes those who speak early might be trying to steer things.”

Player 4 says: “Okay, that’s fair — early Day 1 is always vibes and gut feelings. I don’t really have much to go on yet either. For what it’s worth, I’m happy to talk through my reasoning as the game goes on, but right now I think throwing out early suspicions without info can accidentally help evil more than good. I agree with Player 3 that we should pay attention to how people are steering the conversation. I’m inclined to keep today mostly for gathering claims and seeing who pushes hard for an execution and who avoids it. No strong reads from me yet.”

Player 5 says: “I agree with everyone that we need to be cautious today. We don’t have a lot of solid info yet, so I think it’s important to gather claims and pay attention to who’s being more vocal about suspicions and executions. I’ve been listening closely, and I think Player 2’s gut feeling about Player 4 is interesting, but we shouldn’t let early gut reactions dominate. That being said, I’m not rushing to any conclusions myself. I think we should keep the conversation going and see who starts pushing harder for an execution or tries to avoid it altogether. I’ll be keeping an eye on how people act today. I think it’s still too early for a nomination, but we definitely need to stay sharp. That’s all I have for now.”

Player 6 says: “I agree with the general sentiment that we need to be cautious right now. We don’t have a lot of solid information yet, so it’s important to pay attention to the dynamics of the conversation. One thing I’ve noticed is that Player 2 seems really focused on Player 4. I understand gut feelings, but I also think we should be careful not to rush into early nominations without more to go on. As for Player 3, I don’t know if anyone else has noticed, but they’re talking a lot about how we need to be careful with early accusations. It’s definitely worth paying attention to who is talking a lot early on and why — sometimes the Demon or Minions try to steer the conversation away from themselves. For now, I think we should gather more claims and continue to observe how everyone behaves. We don’t have enough yet to push for an execution, but I’m definitely keeping an eye on things.”

Player 7 says: “I agree with everyone here that we need to be cautious right now. We don’t have solid info, and making early accusations can really throw us off. I’m personally keeping an eye on how the conversation develops and how people are reacting to certain claims. At the moment, I don’t have enough to push for any nominations, but I’m definitely staying sharp. I think it’s important to focus on who is making bold statements and who might be trying to guide the conversation in certain directions.”

Player 8 says: “Player 8 speaking. Early days, so I don’t have hard info yet. I mostly agree with the cautious tone, but I want to flag that in Sects & Violets, completely avoiding executions can be dangerous if certain Demons are in play. I’m not pushing a nomination right now, but I don’t think we should treat ‘no execution’ as the default safe option. I’m happy to stay in listening mode today and see who starts committing to positions or avoiding them. No nomination from me.”

Player 1 says: “I see a lot of people talking about caution, which makes sense, but I’m also curious about how people are approaching the whole ‘gut feeling’ thing. I think Player 2 might be onto something with the suspicion on Player 4, but I don’t think it’s time to jump to conclusions yet. I think we should also consider how much some people are trying to steer the conversation in one direction. It’s always tricky when there’s a lot of consensus — sometimes that can hide a Demon trying to blend in.”

Player 2 says: “I’ve been listening closely to everyone’s thoughts, and I think Player 6 brings up an interesting point about me focusing too much on Player 4. I’ll admit, I do have some gut feelings, but as Player 3 said, we don’t want to rush into conclusions. That said, I’ve noticed that Player 5 is being especially cautious about not pushing for any early nominations — this might be something to keep an eye on. It’s often the case that those who avoid commitment are trying not to draw attention to themselves. I’m not saying we should rush an execution, but it’s something to think about.”

Player 2 nominates player 5! Player 5 gave the following defense: “I’ll start by saying I understand the caution around early nominations — I’m definitely not trying to avoid commitment, I just think we need to be careful about jumping to conclusions too quickly. I’ve been listening to everyone’s thoughts, and while I agree with being cautious, I also think it’s important to start paying attention to how people are speaking. As for Player 2’s accusation about me being “too cautious,” I think it’s a fair observation, but I want to emphasize that being cautious doesn’t automatically mean I’m avoiding responsibility or trying to deflect suspicion. We’re still in the early stages, and I’d rather not make hasty decisions that could harm the good team. There’s nothing wrong with taking the time to gather more information before making a call on nominations. I also want to remind everyone that good players should be working together to piece together the puzzle. I’m not trying to avoid making moves; I just think it’s too early for a nomination right now. We still need more info to make an informed decision. I’d be happy to discuss more and answer any further questions, but I don’t think today is the right time for an execution.”

Player 6 did not vote. Player 7 did not vote. Player 8 did not vote. Player 1 did vote. Player 2 did vote. Player 3 did not vote. Player 4 did not vote. Player 5 did not vote.

===== FIRST NOMINATION =====

The results of the nomination are in!

Player 2 nominated Player 5. Votes: Player 1 and Player 2 2 votes are not enough. Player 5 is safe for the day.

After the nomination, the following conversation took place:

[Player 3 elected to get their Savant info. It was: there is an Outsider sitting next to an evil player, or exactly two players learned information in the night.]

Player 3: “I’ve learned some interesting information today as the Savant. Based on what I was told by the Storyteller, there’s either an Outsider next to an evil player, or two good players learned information on the first night. These are important pieces of the puzzle, and I think they might help us narrow down potential suspects. I’ll be keeping an eye on the dynamics between players, especially looking for any connections between Outsiders and evil roles. It’s too early to be certain about anything, but I’ll continue observing who’s trying to steer the conversation and who’s being cautious. Right now, I’m not pushing for any nominations. We need more information before we can make any strong moves. But I think it’s important that we stay sharp and keep asking questions. The Demon could be trying to blend in with the group, so let’s pay attention to how people act.”

Player 4: “Thanks for sharing that, Player 3. If the Savant’s info is anything to go by, it sounds like we might have some clues to consider, especially when it comes to the dynamics between Outsiders and evil roles. I agree that we should keep observing for now and avoid jumping into hasty nominations. As for Player 2’s push for Player 5 earlier, it’s worth noting that it felt a bit like a shot in the dark. I’m still on the fence about the whole thing, and while Player 5’s cautiousness did stand out, I’m not sure it’s enough to execute someone yet. I think we need more to go on before we start making stronger accusations. At this point, I’m still in ‘gathering information’ mode, but I’d be happy to hear any new thoughts from the rest of you. We need to stay vigilant, but also careful.”

Player 5: “I’m glad to hear Player 3 share some insights from their Savant ability, especially the info about the Outsider potentially being next to an evil player or that two good players might have learned information last night. That could definitely help us piece things together as the game moves forward. I agree with Player 4 — we need to keep our heads cool and stay in gathering mode for now. As for me, I still think it’s a bit early for nominations. We’ve heard some good observations, but I don’t think we have enough to go on just yet. I also don’t feel strongly about executing Player 5, as Player 2 pushed for earlier. I think we need to pay attention to who’s trying to move things forward without solid reasons. It could be a sign that they’re trying to move the conversation away from themselves. I’ll say this, though: if we keep up the careful observation, we might spot patterns of who’s staying quiet or who’s pushing too hard. That could be where we find the Demon or the Minions. For now, I won’t be nominating anyone yet. Let’s see how this conversation unfolds, and I’m open to hearing what others think.”

Player 6: “I’m glad we’re all in agreement that we need to gather more information before pushing for any nominations. We’re still in the early stages, and it’s important to be cautious with our decisions. I think Player 3’s information from the Savant is really valuable — it gives us some direction in terms of potential dynamics between Outsiders and evil roles, but we’ll need to dig deeper before making any conclusions. As for Player 2, I think their push for Player 5 earlier was a bit premature. It’s natural to want to find the Demon, but sometimes pushing too early can cause more confusion than clarity. We should be keeping an eye on who’s trying to steer the conversation too much, especially when there’s not enough solid info to go on. That said, I still don’t think it’s time for any nominations. Let’s keep gathering claims and paying attention to how everyone reacts. If we all stay vigilant, we’ll start to see patterns emerge. I’m open to hearing more thoughts, but for now, I’m not nominating anyone yet.”

Player 7: “I think we’re all in agreement that we need to be careful before making any strong accusations or nominations. Player 3’s information as the Savant gives us something to think about, especially in terms of Outsiders being near evil players. I’m still watching to see how the dynamics shift as we continue talking. At this point, I’m not ready to nominate anyone — there’s just not enough concrete info yet. I agree with Player 6 that we need to stay vigilant, keep observing, and see how things unfold as the game progresses.”

Player 8: “It seems like we’re all in agreement that we need to take a cautious approach today. Player 3’s information as the Savant is definitely something to keep in mind, especially with the possibility of an Outsider being near an evil player. That could give us some important clues later on, but for now, it’s still too early to make any solid conclusions. Player 2’s earlier push for Player 5 was definitely a bit premature, and I think we all agree that we need more information before making any nominations. Player 5’s cautiousness makes sense in this early phase of the game — it’s natural to want to be careful when we don’t have a lot of info. I’m still in gathering mode and don’t feel that any nominations are warranted at this point. I think it’s wise to observe how people act and listen closely to any new information that comes up. The Demon could be trying to blend in, so we need to pay attention to who’s steering the conversation too much or avoiding it altogether. That being said, I’ll hold off on making any nominations today. We need to stay sharp and patient.”

Player 1: “It seems like we’re all on the same page in terms of being cautious, which is good. I do think Player 3’s information about the Outsider and evil roles is something we need to keep in mind as we continue to watch who’s acting in ways that might not fit. I’m also noticing that there’s a lot of agreement on avoiding nominations, but sometimes the Demon tries to blend in by going with the flow. Let’s stay vigilant and see who starts pushing harder for nominations or avoiding them altogether. We need to be sharp.”

Player 2: “I see we’re all in agreement on staying cautious and gathering more information, but I think we need to start looking at how people are reacting to the conversations. We’ve already heard from Player 3 that there could be a connection between an Outsider and an evil player. If that’s the case, it’s important that we stay sharp and look at who’s trying to steer things away from that possibility. I’ll admit, I’ve been a bit suspicious of Player 4’s lack of strong opinions — while I understand wanting to gather more info, I’ve noticed they’re staying very neutral and avoiding committing to any direction, even though they’ve had plenty of chances to speak up. That’s something to consider as we continue to observe who’s pushing for action and who’s playing it safe.”

Player 3: “I’m glad we’re all on the same page about staying cautious for now and gathering more information. I think it’s smart to keep watching how everyone behaves, especially those who might be trying to steer the conversation or avoid making strong statements. Based on the info I received as the Savant, the possibility of an Outsider being near an evil player is definitely something to keep an eye on. If that’s the case, it might help us identify connections as the game unfolds. We need to be paying attention to who might be acting suspiciously and to those who are too quick to push for nominations or too passive to make a move. I’ve noticed that Player 2 has been very active in pushing for a nomination and has shown some strong suspicions — first of Player 4, and then later of Player 5. That could be something worth watching, especially since Player 4 is staying more neutral and cautious, which is understandable but could also be a tactic to avoid attention. I’m not ready to nominate anyone just yet, but I think it’s important that we continue observing these dynamics and see who stands out. The Demon or Minions might be trying to blend in, and we need to stay sharp.”

Player 5: “I think it’s clear that we’re all in agreement about staying cautious for now and observing how everyone behaves. I appreciate Player 3 for sharing their information as the Savant — that’s definitely something to keep in mind as we consider the possibility of an Outsider being near an evil player. This info will help us piece things together as the game goes on. I’ve been paying attention to the conversations, and Player 2 has been quite active in pushing for nominations, starting with me earlier today. That’s something to keep in mind. It’s easy to get caught up in gut feelings, but we don’t want to act on suspicions without enough evidence. I’m still not convinced we have enough to go on for any strong nominations yet. Player 4 has been staying neutral, which could be a strategy, but I think it’s more likely they’re just being cautious — something we should all be doing right now. For now, I’m going to stick with my previous stance and suggest that we keep gathering info. No nominations from me today. I think we need to pay close attention to those who are either pushing too hard or staying too passive. There’s still a lot to learn, and we’ll be in a better position to make a move once we have more information.”

Player 6: “I think it’s clear that we’re all still in the phase of gathering information, and I agree with Player 3’s point about how the Savant’s info can help us narrow down who might be connected to an Outsider or evil player. I’ve also been thinking about Player 2’s earlier push for Player 5, which felt a bit rushed. I’ve noticed that Player 2 has been quite active in trying to move things forward, and while gut feelings are important, it’s crucial that we don’t let early suspicions guide us too much. Sometimes, the Demon or Minions can push for nominations too quickly to deflect attention. I also want to highlight that Player 4 has been cautious and neutral, which can be a good strategy when we’re in the dark, but it’s also something worth watching. Player 4 might be a good player trying to be careful, or it could be an attempt to blend in and avoid drawing attention. For now, I’m still holding off on nominations. I think we should all continue to observe and see how people act as the conversation develops. We’re not at a point where we have enough to make strong moves yet, but I think we’re starting to see who might be trying to steer things in one direction too much. Let’s stay sharp.”

Player 7: “I think we’re all staying cautious, which is smart. I’ve been paying attention to the conversations, and while I’ve noticed that Player 2 has been pretty active in pushing suspicions, I agree with the others that we need to focus on gathering more information. We’re still in the early stages, and I think it’s important to keep watching how people behave. Who’s pushing too hard, and who’s trying to avoid committing to anything? We’ll need to stay sharp, but right now, I don’t think it’s time to make any nominations. Let’s keep gathering info and see how things unfold.”

Player 8: “I think we’re all still very much in the information-gathering phase, which is good, but I’ve noticed a couple of things that are worth highlighting. First, Player 2 has been quite vocal in trying to push for nominations, starting with Player 5, and now they seem to be focusing on Player 4. While gut feelings are valuable, I agree with Player 6 that pushing too early can sometimes be a tactic used by the Demon or Minions to deflect attention. Player 4 has definitely been cautious, but that might be more about being careful in the early stages. I understand why Player 3, Player 6, and others have highlighted this, but I’m still leaning toward the idea that it’s more of a neutral, careful approach rather than a deliberate attempt to avoid attention. I’m also keeping an eye on Player 2, who has been consistently pushing for actions, and I’ll continue to watch whether this is coming from a place of genuine suspicion or a strategy to steer the group. For now, I’m still not ready to nominate anyone. We don’t have enough solid information to make a call, and I agree with everyone that it’s better to stay cautious and continue gathering more details.”

[At this point, I told the AIs on their turn that I would allow each to give one more statement, and if no one nominated, the day would end.]

Player 1: “This is getting tense! I see that Player 2 is still pushing the conversation forward and pointing fingers, particularly at Player 4. Meanwhile, Player 4 is staying cautious and neutral, which is a common strategy to avoid drawing suspicion but could also be a tactic to blend in. Given that everyone is still in the gathering information phase, I think it’s wise to hold off on a nomination for now. I don’t want to make any rash moves that could backfire, especially when there’s still so much uncertainty.”

Player 2: “It’s clear that we’re all trying to gather as much information as possible right now, which is the right approach. While I understand the hesitancy to make any nominations, we should also keep in mind that the Demon is likely blending in with the group, trying to avoid suspicion. I think it’s important to stay vigilant about how people are reacting — those who are overly cautious or too passive could be hiding something. As we move forward, let’s continue to observe carefully and see if any patterns start to emerge. We’re in a good position to gather more intel, but we’ll need to stay sharp and take action when the time is right.”

Player 3: “It seems like we’re all still very much in the observation phase, and I agree with many of the points being made. Player 2 has been consistently pushing for action, especially with their focus on Player 4, and Player 4 has been staying neutral, which is a strategy I can understand in the early stages. However, Player 2’s active push might be something to keep an eye on, especially since they’ve been vocal about multiple players now. The Demon or Minions often try to control the conversation in subtle ways, and sometimes pushing for nominations too early is one of those tactics.”

Player 4: “Alright, it’s clear that there’s a lot of careful watching happening, and I’m still in agreement with the majority here — we don’t have enough solid info for a nomination yet. Player 2’s push for a nomination, especially after trying earlier with Player 5, is definitely something to keep an eye on, but at this stage, I don’t think it’s conclusive enough to act on. We’re still in the early game, and the Demon could be blending in well, so I’m all for continuing to observe, especially the dynamics of who is pushing for executions and who’s staying more passive. I think it’s smart to keep the pressure on those who are moving the conversation too much in one direction. For now, I’m still not nominating anyone. Let’s continue to gather more information and see how things unfold. We’ve got a good chance to stay sharp and make a more informed decision later on.”

Player 5: “I think we’re all on the same page that staying cautious and continuing to observe is the best move right now. The Savant’s information about the possibility of an Outsider being near an evil player is definitely worth keeping in mind. I also want to echo Player 2’s point about the Demon trying to blend in — sometimes staying too neutral or cautious can be a tactic to avoid drawing attention, but that doesn’t necessarily mean someone is evil. That said, Player 2’s push for nominations, especially earlier with Player 5, is something we need to watch. It feels a bit premature, and I agree with others that this could be a tactic to move the conversation too quickly or deflect suspicion. At this point, though, I don’t feel strongly about nominating anyone. We’ve all shared some good observations, but there’s just not enough concrete information to make an informed decision yet. I think we should hold off on nominations for now and keep tracking how people are acting. So, I’m not nominating anyone today. Let’s continue to stay sharp and see how things develop.”

Player 6: “I’m still in agreement with everyone that we need to stay cautious for now. There’s been a lot of good observation today, especially around Player 2’s active push for nominations and Player 4’s more neutral stance. I think it’s important to pay attention to how people react in these early phases — those who are too vocal, or too passive, can sometimes reveal more than they realize. I think we’re doing a good job of gathering information, and I agree that right now, it’s better to hold off on nominations. The Demon could be trying to blend in, and we’ll need to stay sharp in the coming days. Let’s keep watching how things unfold, and I think we’ll be in a better position to make decisions later. For now, no nominations from me.”

Player 7: “I think we’ve all made some solid observations today. While I do agree that Player 2 has been very active in pushing for nominations, I don’t think there’s enough to go on yet to make a move. Player 4’s cautious approach makes sense to me at this stage, and I’d rather hold off on making any rash decisions. We’re still gathering valuable info, and the Demon could be blending in with the group. For now, I think it’s better to stay sharp, keep observing, and wait for more concrete patterns to emerge. So, I won’t be nominating anyone today. Let’s close the day without an execution and see where things stand tomorrow.”

Player 8: “At this point, it’s clear that everyone is still in the observation phase and there’s been a lot of agreement on holding off for now. Player 2 has been vocal about pushing for nominations, particularly with their suspicions of Player 4, but that’s not enough to act on just yet. Player 4’s cautiousness, while noted, seems more about being careful in these early stages rather than a deliberate attempt to blend in. I agree with Player 6 and Player 5’s assessments that we don’t have enough solid information to justify a nomination at this time. I also don’t feel comfortable making a hasty decision that could be harmful to the good team. We’re still gathering observations, and the Demon or Minions could be trying to manipulate the conversation, so we need to stay sharp. Given that I don’t think a nomination is warranted right now, I will not nominate anyone. I think it’s best to end the day and let us continue observing, keeping our eyes open for new patterns tomorrow.”

Grim Reveal

  • Player 1 was your Witch, who cursed player 3, but player 3 never nominated so the curse did nothing.
  • Player 2 was your Vortox, who never got to kill.
  • Player 3 was your Savant, who learned that either (a) an Outsider neighbors an evil player or (b) exactly two good players learned information last night. Both of these were false because of the Vortox.
  • Player 4 was your Flowergirl, who would have learned a “no” because the Demon did vote, but it was a Vortox game. However, the game ended before they could learn this.
  • Player 5 was your Seamstress, who never used their ability.
  • Player 6 was your Dreamer, who chose player 3 on the first night and learned Mutant or Witch. Player 3 was actually the Savant, but the Dreamer learned false information due to the Vortox.
  • Player 7 was your Mutant.
  • Player 8 was your Oracle, who never learned any information.
