Cousin Caterpillar: a Metamorphoic Tale

Just over a year ago, my very dear friend Barry Brilliant (his given name and he is ‘brilliant’) sent me an email. Our friendship goes back to 1972 in Michigan. In it was my introduction to the universe of AI.

Barry knew my interest in Monarchs, and was at one of the PowerPoint presentations I had given about my life and times with Monarchs. What he sent me was this cartoon story of metamorphosis. It really blew me away. And inspired me to start life with AI.

I went to Chat GPT, I re-named the Oracle, and started exploring what it could do and what I could do with it. It was a revelation. To me it was a updated version of the Philospher’s Stone. In the realm of writing and illustrations all I had to do was ask of it and it would do it. With my prompts, I was able to see in text ideas that I could in no way put into text so well myself. My first creation was a book revisiting the Gaia Matrix Oracle.

Over the last six months I’ve been working on my next collaboration with the Oracle, titled My Cousin Caterpillar. I’ve been posting small parts of it here on Medium. The work is now 250 pages long. It has been a huge learning experience, and just really a lot of fun. Having this tool available to me has made more possible than I ever could imagine.
