GLAZE: Excessive Praise

Definition: “Glaze” is widely known as the shiny coating on all of my favorite desserts: a Dunkin’ donut 🍩, a Nothing Bundt cake 🥮, or a Cinnabon roll. In teen language, though, “glaze” is commonly used to describe over-the-top praise that isn’t really deserved.

Usage: Kids say this when someone is glazing way too hard and you just want your friend to shut up 🤐. If they’re hyping someone up nonstop, you hit them with “Stop glazing.” It means the praising is getting out of control, nobody asked, and the conversation needs to end immediately. I applied this recently when my friend would NOT stop talking about how good Ronaldo is at soccer ⚽. After the 10th compliment, I stated: “Bro… stop glazing Ronaldo.” It’s basically a nicer way of saying please stop talking before I lose it.
