The Origin of Ben 10’s Aliens

Ben 10 had a great rise up to Ultimate Alien. Even though Omniverse was more colorful and aimed at younger audiences, it was still one of the best shows to explain the Ben 10 universe.

I hope we’ll see even better productions in the future. Ben 10 is truly a cartoon that could have spin-offs for every single character. Anyway, that’s not our topic.

Some of the aliens in Ben 10 are inspired by real life, a mixture of several animals.

First off, let’s look at Spidermonkey:

It takes its name from the real-life Spider Monkey and has a similar body structure. It has long arms, a strong tail, and moves with agility.

Ripjaws: The alien that is a mixture of a shark and an eel is Ripjaws.

Four Arms: A mixture of gorilla and human.

Strength, durability, high jumping; the large, muscular build resembles gorillas.

Swampfire: It was inspired by plants and fire elements. It can regrow from roots, is connected to nature, and has powers like photosynthesis.

Terraspin: A species that is a mixture of a turtle and an armadillo. It is equivalent to Armodrillo in the same series. Both are inspired by the armadillo animal (tatu).

Big Chill: Its a mixture of a moth and a ghost.

Wildmutt: A mixture of cat, dog, and wild animals. An alien with no eyes but highly developed senses, based on wild nature instincts.

Its wing structure resembles a moth; a ghostly being that lives at night and can breathe ice.

Wildmutt (Image, VII.)

Stinkfly: Insects, especially a fly and a dragonfly.

It can fly, shoot sticky liquid, and its eye structure is like that of a fly.

Wildvine: It was inspired by plants, creepers, and vines.

Stretching limbs, seed shooting, plant tissue; a purely plant-based alien.

The designers created these with the principle of ‘Animal but logical alien’ in mind. Of course, they didn’t always take inspiration from animals.

The Highbreed design was inspired by bananas.

Eye Guy: In the first version, he was going to be a single giant eye, but later his whole body was covered in eyes.

Upchuck: It was completely different color at first, but it was changed to green for the ‘stomach-acid theme’.

Let’s come to the end,

Grey Matter: He is small because it was intended to emphasize that intelligence depends on brain capacity, not physical strength.

They are all aliens who added color to our childhood, our favorites.
