What’s Done Ain’t Always Easy

They’ll clap for the finish,

But never see the fight.

They’ll praise what was mended,

But never witness the night.

‘Cause what’s done ain’t always easy…

Sometimes it’s paid in hidden pain.

A smile on the outside,

While your body’s screaming like pouring rain.

See…

The grass got cut.

The yard looks clean.

But they don’t see

What happened in between.

They don’t count

The breaths I chased.

Or every ounce

Of strength I faced.

They’ll say,

“Well… it doesn’t look that hard.”

Not knowing every step

Left another scar.

What’s done ain’t always easy

Sometimes victory limps home.

Sometimes the strongest thing you’ll do

Is suffer… all alone.

Yes I pushed that mower

One row at a time.

Making peace with every ache

That tried to steal what’s mine.

Because responsibilities

Don’t always wait.

Pain don’t cancel bills…

Or negotiate.

So I kept pushing,

Though my lungs complained.

Kept standing,

Though my body strained.

Not because I felt powerful…

But because quitting

Would’ve hurt me the same.

That’s the thing

About surviving…

It ain’t glamorous.

It ain’t loud.

Sometimes courage

Looks like sweat

Falling quietly

To the ground.

What’s done ain’t always easy.

Some victories

Don’t feel sweet.

Some crowns

Are earned

On exhausted feet.

So don’t mistake

The finished view

For proof

The journey was light.

Sometimes the greatest battles

Leaves no witness…

Only the evidence

That somebody chose

To keep fighting.

And if tomorrow

Finds me paying

For the work

I did today…

Then let every sore muscle,

Every aching breath,

Every tired bone

Have this one thing to say:

“I didn’t stop.”

Because what’s done

Ain’t always easy…

But easy

Has never been

The measure

Of me💅🏾
