I recently joined carpentary lessons and made a chair as my first project. The teacher is a 65 years old retired meteorology professor who taught carpentary from his rooftop workshop with tools that were collected over the years and handled with care. The chair we made was wobbly and not sittable so we turned it into a magazine rack instead. The experience left me richer nonetheless.
Then I joined a short course in communication (6 lessons pricesely but intense) where I learnt the principles of good communication, the value of tonal variation, and finally, the importance of non verbal ques. We ended the course with me doing a mock interview for my podcast. Two things about my coach — first, she only signed me after I agreed to go to the gym for a month every alternate day, and second, as a rule she made it clear, assignments had to be submitted before the next class no matter what. The experience left an impact, after my first time working with structure. I liked it.
My gymming continues with the same enthusiasm I started a few months ago. It has been fun. My trainer is a young person who is passionate about training, very good at his work and committed to his craft. He wants to use his body to make money through modeling and acting. He has transformed my body.
Video editing has been something I have been wanting to dabble in for a long time since I am aware about the power of an editor to patch together random footage to tell a brand new story with a power to transform. I have a young coach who is breaking down the concepts and techniques for me as I navigate the world of Premier Pro. At this point, he and I are editing my first podcast with footage from the mock I mentioned earlier.
I have been attracted to poetry since I was a kid. I also feel there is a poet hidden in me somewhere who feels comfortable expressing in short bursts that rhyme or are rhythmic rather than long form prose that leads a reader down a descriptive path .. leaving little to imagination. Poetry is closer to a painting as a medium of expression as opposed to a book that relies on words pretty much like poetry does.. but they are not similar. I have started to write some poetry now. This makes me happy.
Then I am learning how to read financial statements from another amazing young professional who has showed me that individual statements are containers of data and information but when mixed like a smoothie, tales of the past, present and future reveal themselves like the mystic writings of the seers and open the mind to so many unimagined possibilites. As I get better at reading statements, I evolve to appreciate the world better.
Interior design is purely an art form and a great way to convey your mastery over the language of shapes and forms that the universe so seamlessly uses to hold, display and provide. I mean, look at how Earth is round as a football yet it doesnt roll over any surface. Dont know if there is anything on Earth that acts and behaves like celestial bodies … excpet maybe consciousness. This is because on Earth gravity pulls us down. Interior design can stimulate and tittlate our senses to replicate nature’s designs through illusion and trickery. Good designs offer utility and when built supported by right materials last their useful life. Design is the bedrock of systems architecture that the universe loves.
Well, as I mentioned in the heading to this writing, these polymathic tendencies have a common stream. They all help me connect with myself in a way that helps me crystallize my expression into concrete realworld tangible items of art that are unique to me and for the world to see.
Ending with an original poem:
Morrie Morrie
Unique to me,
For the world to see,
My inner thought,
That consciousness brought,
Very difficult to explain,
Harder to retain,
Capture I for eternity,
As if recording for my faternity,
The world will know me gone,
But will know me by my song,
Living through it all,
Waiting for the ultimate call,
When nothing remains of me,
The world will know I live free.
(Inspired by the book Tuesdays with Morrie)
