Contorium: Designing a Dual-Layer MCP Experience

Most developer tools fail not because they lack power, but because they expose too much of it at once.

Contorium is exploring a different direction: a dual-layer MCP interface system.

Instead of forcing all users into the same density of information, we now separate experience into two modes:

  1. Simplified Information Mode

A clean, reduced interface designed for quick understanding.

Only essential signals are shown. No cognitive overload.

  1. Full Context Mode

A complete MCP view that exposes system states, logs, interactions, and deeper reasoning paths for advanced users.

Why this matters

Different users don’t just need different features — they need different levels of attention demand.

  • Beginners want clarity
    • Builders want control
    • Power users want transparency

Contorium is not trying to flatten these needs into one UI.

Instead, we treat interface complexity as a user-selectable variable.

The direction

We are moving toward:

  • Adaptive MCP layers
    • User-controlled system visibility
    • Context-aware assistant depth
    • Optional “active guidance mode” vs “silent monitoring mode”

The goal is simple:

Let users decide how much the system thinks with them.
