Eligibility criteria

Age limits

• Minimum age: 18 years as on the date specified in the notification
• Maximum age: 30 years (relaxation applicable for reserved categories)
• Age relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years, OBC — 3 years, PwD — 10 years
• Ex-servicemen: Age relaxation as per government rules
• Age is calculated as on the closing date of online application

Educational qualifications

• Candidates must have passed 10th grade along with an ITI certificate in the relevant trade or hold a Diploma/Degree in Engineering in the respective field.

Selection procedure

The recruitment process consists of four stages. Candidates must qualify each stage to proceed to the next.

Step 1 : Computer Based Test (CBT)

First stage examination covering Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness. Duration: 90 minutes with 75 questions carrying 75 marks. Negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.

Step 2 : Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates qualifying CBT will undergo physical efficiency test to verify height, chest measurements, and vision standards. This is a qualifying stage and candidates must meet all prescribed physical standards.

Step 3 : Document verification

Verification of original certificates including educational qualifications, age proof, caste certificate (if applicable), and other relevant documents. Candidates must carry all original documents along with photocopies.

Step 4 : Medical examination

Comprehensive medical examination by Railway Medical Board to ensure fitness for the post. Includes vision test, hearing test, general physical examination, and fitness assessment as per railway medical standards.

• Level 2 in 7th Pay Commission: ₹19,900 — ₹63,200
• Initial basic pay: ₹19,900 per month
