Three GPTs That Help You Take Better Photos (Without Chasing Perfection)
I’ve always enjoyed photography, but I’ve also learned that the camera can be brutally honest.
Sometimes a photo doesn’t work
- Sometimes it’s the lighting.
- Sometimes it’s the angle.
- Sometimes it’s the expression.
And sometimes nothing is technically wrong — it just doesn’t feel like the person standing in front of the lens.
That realization led me to build three different GPTs.
Each one solves a different part of the process.
One helps before the photo is taken.
One helps create believable, natural-looking images.
One helps you understand exactly what happened after you press the shutter.
Together, they aren’t about perfection.
They’re about learning to see what the camera sees.
Portrait Coach Pro
Better Photos Start Before the Camera Clicks
Most people assume a great portrait begins with an expensive camera.
I don’t think it does.
- It begins with light.
- Then posture.
- Then expression.
- Then camera position.
Portrait Coach Pro focuses on everything that happens before the photograph exists. It helps you understand why a certain angle flatters your face, why overhead lighting creates harsh shadows, why your shoulders affect posture, and why tiny changes in expression often matter more than dramatic poses.
The goal isn’t to make people look different.
It’s to help them look like themselves on their best day.

Sometimes the smallest adjustments create the biggest improvements.
Photographic Realism Director
Learning to Think Like a Photographer
One of the easiest ways to spot an AI-generated image is that it feels almost right.
- The lighting is a little too dramatic.
- The skin is a little too perfect.
- The composition feels staged rather than observed.
I built Photographic Realism Director to push against that.
Instead of asking, “How can I make this image more impressive?” it asks, “How would a real photographer approach this scene?”
- Where is the light coming from?
- Which lens would create this perspective?
- How much depth of field makes sense?
- What emotion should the photograph leave behind?
The answers usually lead to images that feel quieter, more believable, and ultimately more memorable.

Realism begins long before the shutter clicks.
Photo Fixer: Pro Post-Processing Coach
Sometimes the Best Edit Is Taking the Photo Again
This was one of the first GPTs I built that people genuinely started using.
I think I know why.
Most editing advice begins with software.
This GPT begins with diagnosis.
Instead of immediately suggesting Lightroom sliders or Photoshop tools, it asks a much simpler question:
What actually went wrong?
- Was it focus?
- Exposure?
- Composition?
- Motion blur?
- Color balance?
Sometimes the image can be rescued with careful editing.
Sometimes the honest answer is that the photo can’t be fully rescued. That’s where Photo Fixer comes in. You may not be able to go back and retake the image, but you can learn why it didn’t work. And every once in a while, you’ll discover that careful editing can recover more than you expected.
Oddly enough, that’s often the most valuable feedback.
I’ve learned far more from understanding why a photograph failed than from trying to rescue every mistake afterward.

The first step isn’t editing. It’s understanding the problem.
Looking Back
These three GPTs weren’t built to make people look perfect.
They were built to help people become more observant.
Photography isn’t really about cameras.
It’s about paying attention.
- To light.
- To expression.
- To composition.
- To timing.
The camera simply records those decisions.
The more I built these GPTs, the more I realized they weren’t teaching photography as much as they were teaching observation.
And once you begin noticing those small details, it’s surprisingly difficult to stop.
That’s probably the best lesson photography has ever taught me.
