Is The World An Illusion In Advaita Vedanta?

When a person first meets the assertion that the world is an illusion, it arrives less as a philosophical proposition and more as a quiet violence. It threatens to dissolve the handrail of the familiar — the weight of a coffee cup, the ache of a goodbye, the relentless logic of a bank statement. Advaita Vedanta stands accused of a spectacular denial. Yet this accusation, however understandable, arises from a compressed misreading that has travelled far beyond its source. To approach this is to dismantle the silent certainties that underwrite every ambition, every fear, every love. So, is the world an illusion? The answer will not be found in a yes or no. It will be found in the collapse of the architecture that needed the question.
