Fall colors on Kodak Ektar 100 — The Pumpkins

I am sucker for fall, even though I live in Florida and we do not get many things that change color here but one place I do like to go this time of year are pumpkin patches that sell all sorts of pumpkins and gourds. Also, fall flowers like mums and sunflowers are also good subjects.

Kodak Ektar in my opinion is the best film stock to use when you want to showcase colors. This film stock produces vibrant, saturated colors that are very pleasing to the eye and makes the colors of your subjects pop. Some would say its to exaggerated and while that is true, that is what I was going for. I would defiantly choose a different color film stock if I wanted true to life colors. Also, I liked how each of the different pumpkins had different textures, my favorite is the large orange ones with the bumpy skin.

My weapon of choice was the Pentax 67 with the 105mm f/2.4 lens. The 6x7 negatives this cameras produces paired with the 105mm lens produces beautiful images.

Below are some of what I captured, I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

About Me

Hi I’m Derrick, a semi professional/hobby photography that loves the art of photography and everything it entails. I enjoy shooting film and digital but with an emphasis on film, especially medium format. I’ve been dabbling with photography for over a decade and started my jouney way back in 1998 with my first film camera, a Canon A-1 with a 50mm f/1.4 lens and I still use it today.
