Pradeep Ranganathan nails it, third time in a row

Pradeep Ranganathan is on a roll. Starting with “Love Today” this is a third time successful triumph for Pradeep Ranganathan. I loved both “Love Today” and “Dragon” and now he has another winner in “Dude” that was released on OTT (Netflix) yesterday. The sweet sacrifice of loving someone so dearly that you would even let them make a choice to love and be with whom they love more is also brought out well.

Mamitha Baiju was excellent in her role and the “Preamlu” girl is certainly going places currently shooting for both Vijay and Suriya’s next films. Though her Mallu accent is apparent she traverses the Tamil domain with ease. The washroom crying scene was done so well and I can only imagine the takes and re-takes it must have taken and how well they put it together.

Tippu and Harini’s son Sai Abhayankkar makes his debut as music director. Sai has already made a name for himself making YouTube video musicals of his songs and it was only a matter of time when he and his sister (Sai Smriti) who also sings made their mark on the music scene in films. The songs of this film were aleady going viral on social media and music streaming platforms before their official releases as fans were uploading them online, “Nallaru Po” being my favouite, sung beautifully.

This is also a successful debut for director Keerthiswaran.

Btw, GPN Palace, the iconic venue (I had been to a marriage there recently) is pictured in the outdoor wedding scenes in the film.

Go for it. The movies seriously beckons me for a second watch and I may succumb to the temptation.

P.S — Forgot to mention that two expletives are used by the hero on Mamitha. I am she was aware what they were and one of them being filthy. This was a first I have seen in a movie where it is addressed to a lady. Not a nice thing but it also passes something not entirely evil or bad.
