Punch and his tot @Seema
Punch is a baby macaque in a zoo in Japan (Ichikawa City Zoo).
I read that his mother abandoned him, due to her distress.
Zookeepers gave him milk and took care of him. He was given a stuffed orangutan toy, and though it was nonliving, that toy gave him the emotional support he needed.
He dragged the toy everywhere. His story resonated widely. His story went viral on socila media.
A hashtag began to circulate #HangInTherePunch.
The zoo got more visitors. Punch was madde zoo mascot for his popularity.
The furniture giant Ikea gave many plush toys to Punch.
Late Show host Stephen Colbert sent a heartwarming message for Punch.
Resilience always inspires. Kindness lives in our hearts. Even a tiny monkey with a stuffed companion can remind us to hang in there, when times are hard, when love is not coming.
I hope, you loved the art.
Good news is that Punch is now bonding with other monkeys in the troop. He still sleeps with his toy, but he is integrating.
