Read this if you’re overthinking about your future

As soon as you see this article, I want you to say “Well done” to yourself — because you’ve tried. It’s the middle of January, and look at how you’ve pulled through. Some of you have even ticked off a few goals already, and that’s worth celebrating.

So when you read this email, buy something small to celebrate yourself, just like I am.

Author’s Day is officially in November, but guess what? Mine is today, and I’m celebrating myself!

You may not know this, but I’ve written 18 books, all of which have been published. And honestly, I need to give myself my flowers because… 18 books? Don’t I have a hobby? Why 18? But honestly, I’m a superstar.

Do you know why I started writing? I was a very shy girl in school with a wild imagination. I was scared of talking, so I chose a pen. I saw the quote “The pen is mightier than the sword” and took it very seriously. I started writing about love, disability advocacy, tribalism, sexual assault, and housemaid abuse when I was just 12. Maybe that’s why I don’t have a boyfriend — when I should have been loving a man, I was busy writing stories. God, no be you cause am oh.

Today feels emotional for me because I remember writing in the back of my schoolbooks and buying extra notebooks to pour out my thoughts.

And now — 18 books later — here we are. This brings me to a lesson I want to share: don’t compare your present to your future. Now, you may not be an author or a writer like me, but I want you to look back at the early days of your career and rejoice. Think of the times God came through for you and how He built you into the person you are today.

He is still the builder of men. There’s still more ahead: more territories to overtake, more growth, provision, peace, and money.

Say it with me: “God has my future handled.” He who saw you from the beginning will see you through to the end.
