Dealing with black magic 🐈‍⬛

Based on what you’ve asked before, you’re asking specifically within the spiritual framework of Barbara Pijan’s writings, not whether black magic objectively exists.

Barbara Pijan’s approach is actually much less about “fighting” psychic attacks and much more about refusing to participate on the same level of consciousness.

From her writings (which draw heavily from the teachings of Alice Bailey), the general principles are:

  • Strengthen alignment with the soul rather than focusing on the attacker.
  • Maintain emotional detachment. Fear, hatred, obsession, and retaliation are viewed as openings in the astral body.
  • Live ethically. Right speech, right action, and harmlessness are considered real protection.
  • Avoid psychic fascination. Constantly wondering “Am I under attack?” is itself seen as feeding the astral plane.
  • Fill your life with constructive service, creativity, meditation, and higher thought. The higher vibration is said to make lower influences less effective.

If someone is “sending negative energy”

Barbara would likely say your first response should not be trying to psychically attack back.

Instead:

  1. Recognize the possibility without becoming obsessed.
  2. Stand in the awareness of your soul.
  3. Refuse emotional reactions like fear or revenge.
  4. Bless the other person and release them.
  5. Return your attention to your purpose.

The emphasis is that your attention is your power.

Psychic walls

Interestingly, Barbara doesn’t spend much time talking about building psychic “walls.”

She often cautions that fear-based shielding can actually keep attention fixed on the lower astral world.

Instead, the better protection is often described as:

  • alignment
  • discrimination
  • harmlessness
  • clear thinking
  • devotion to the soul

The idea is that sunlight doesn’t need armor against darkness — it simply shines.

Prayer

“May the will of the Soul prevail. May only that which serves the highest good reach me. May fear dissolve. May I remain aligned with Love, Wisdom, and Purpose.”

Notice the prayer isn’t asking to defeat another person.

It’s asking to stay aligned.

What if they’ve “broken through”?

Barbara generally would encourage asking practical questions first:

  • Am I exhausted?
  • Am I living in fear?
  • Am I emotionally attached to this conflict?
  • Am I repeatedly dwelling on this person?
  • Am I acting contrary to my own conscience?

In her framework, those conditions weaken one’s equilibrium more than another person’s intentions do.

Then the practice is to restore alignment through meditation, ethical living, and shifting attention from the personality back to the soul.

A balanced perspective

Outside of Barbara Pijan’s spiritual framework, there’s no scientific evidence that another person’s spells, curses, or prayers can directly override your mind or spirit in the way many traditions describe. If you feel persistently threatened or distressed by these beliefs, it can also help to ground yourself in ordinary supports — trusted friends, spiritual leaders from your own tradition, healthy routines, and, if anxiety becomes overwhelming, a mental health professional.

Ironically, Barbara would probably agree with one central point: the less you become fascinated with alleged psychic attacks, and the more steadily you align with truth, purpose, and love, the less power those fears have over your life.

What is considered retaliation?

Within Barbara Pijan’s interpretation of Alice Bailey’s teachings, retaliation isn’t just physical revenge — it’s any attempt to answer lower-force with lower-force.

Examples of what would generally be considered retaliation:

  • Trying to psychically “send energy back” to someone.
  • Wishing harm, suffering, or punishment on them out of anger.
  • Trying to curse them or use occult practices against them.
  • Obsessing over defeating them or proving you’re spiritually stronger.
  • Acting from hatred, resentment, or revenge rather than clear judgment.

On the other hand, retaliation is not the same as healthy boundaries. Bailey’s teachings don’t say you’re supposed to become passive or let people mistreat you.

These would generally not be considered retaliation:

  • Reporting a crime to the police.
  • Hiring a lawyer or defending yourself in court.
  • Blocking someone who is harassing you.
  • Leaving an unhealthy relationship.
  • Telling the truth about what happened when appropriate.
  • Praying for justice or protection without wishing harm on the other person.

The distinction is your motive and the level of consciousness you’re acting from. In that framework:

  • Protection = “I’m taking appropriate action while remaining as emotionally clear as I can.”
  • Retaliation = “I want to hurt them because they hurt me.

Barbara Pijan repeatedly emphasizes shifting attention away from the personality conflict and back toward soul alignment. The idea is that once you’re centered there, you can still take firm action in the physical world, but without feeding fear, hatred, or revenge.

So if someone is genuinely stalking, harassing, or threatening you, pursuing legal remedies wouldn’t generally be viewed as retaliation in that philosophy. The teachings distinguish justice and self-protection from revenge.
