Five Disney Games I’d still like to see Remasters of (besides Quackshot)…

A few months ago, I asked whether the Disney Remaster/Remake well had dried up. Maybe the desire on Disney’s part has, however there is certainly a wealth of games locked to old consoles ripe for a remaster or port of some kind whether it be on their own or in a collection with other titles. I may do more of these down the line, and ones from this particular list may be included in future entries of it’s been long enough and they still haven’t gotten any kind of port or remaster. Without further ado let’s get to the list!

#5. Goof Troop

For historical value alone, Goof Troop should be heavily considered for a modern re-release for the simple fact that it’s one of the earliest games Shinji Mikami worked on, and that dude went on to create Resident Evil, one of the biggest franchises in gaming. Beyond that, it’s just a fun game and would really benefit from a modern update with co-op online play. With the recent anniversary of A Goofy Movie being widely celebrated it’s arguable Goofy is more popular now than he’s been in decades and he doesn’t have many solo games of his own so this would be a great one to bring back.

#4. Deep Duck Trouble Starring Donald Duck

Donald Duck is an underrated star of the 8 and 16-bit era with many classic platformers to his credit but one that doesn’t really get mentioned in the same breath as The Lucky Dime Caper, Quackshot or Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow and absolutely should is Deep Duck Trouble Starring Donald Duck. Likely forgotten as it’s a Game Gear exclusive release (though it was released on the Sega Master System in some territories). It’s just an incredibly well-made platformer and shouldn’t be locked to old systems.

#3. Land of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse

Probably better off in a whole collection of the entire Illusion series rather than its own release, but still, the whole Illusion series is fantastic (and Disney Illusion Island is a really great modern continuation of the series pick that up if you haven’t already). Land of Illusion usually gets forgotten along the big hits of Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion. It’s arguably right up there those, just excellent animation, platforming etc. Another game that shouldn’t be left in the past.

#2. Pinocchio

Disney had a period where they were releasing games based on classic franchises that came out decades before video games were even a thing. It was very hit-and-miss, but Pinocchio is a solid platformer with absolutely gorgeous sprite animation. It honestly should’ve been in the Disney Classics collection which they have updated since release to include additional games they could easily do that again. Either way arguably the best of the games based on pre-1990s Disney franchises, Pinocchio definitely deserves a remaster.

#1. Toy Story

Honestly Disney. Such a missed opportunity here. It is the 30th anniversary of the release of Toy Story, arguably the most seminal animated film of the last 30 years. It would have been such a great opportunity to re-release this game, which was very impressive graphically for the time and overall a very solid game in its own right. We have access to Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue and Toy Story 3. Let’s make that whole trilogy of games available, whether it’s a solo remaster of this game or a collection. Get on it, Disney!
