Wall Street Just Productized Bitcoin

There Is No Such Thing as Bitcoin Yield. Here’s What You’re Buying

The wrappers come and go. The asset doesn’t.

That one line sums up the biggest institutional week Bitcoin has had all year.

BlackRock’s “Yield” ETF

On Tuesday, BlackRock listed BETA on the NASDAQ, the first major Bitcoin yield product from a top-tier issuer.

Here’s how it works.

BETA holds Bitcoin and IBIT, then every month sells call options against 25 to 35% of its holdings. The premiums become the income paid to shareholders. They’re targeting 15 to 25% per year.

But understand what you’re buying. You’re not buying Bitcoin yield, because there’s no such thing. You’re buying an option strategy that monetizes volatility. BETA only captures about 70% of the rally. If Bitcoin doubles, BETA doesn’t.

Warsh’s First FOMC

Kevin Warsh held rates at 3.5 to 3.75%, as expected.

But nine of 18 members now see at least one hike in 2026. We’ve moved from dovish to hawkish.

And Warsh refused to submit his own dot: “For me, it’s not helpful in the conduct of policy.”

Iran Signs a Peace Deal

Tomorrow, the US and Iran sign a 60-day ceasefire.

Bitcoin has done an interesting job sitting outside the whole situation. The big downside move was mostly capital exiting Bitcoin for the summer’s tech IPOs, not the strait.

Bitcoin is the asset that adapts. Useful in war. Useful in peace.

SpaceX Goes Public, With Bitcoin

SpaceX went public Thursday, the largest IPO in history, holding 18,712 Bitcoin on its balance sheet.

Now anyone with a brokerage account gets indirect exposure to corporate Bitcoin without ever touching a cold wallet.

Elon’s held that Bitcoin for years, and it hasn’t moved. A great signal.

The Word You Must Understand: Yield

This is the most misunderstood word in crypto. In traditional finance, yield is income from a productive asset. Stocks pay dividends. Bonds pay coupons.

Bitcoin does not have yield. It’s a bare asset.

So when someone offers you “Bitcoin yield,” ask: what am I giving up? Sometimes it’s upside, like BETA. Sometimes it’s custody, like the lending platforms that collapsed, remember Celsius and Terra.

There is no Bitcoin yield. Only tradeoffs dressed up as yield.

The Bottom Line

BlackRock launched a yield ETF. SpaceX went public with Bitcoin on board. Warsh reset the Fed’s tone. Iran signs tomorrow.

Every one is a new wrapper for one underlying thing.

The wrappers come and go. The asset doesn’t.

Thanks for reading. See you in the next one :)
