“It’s midnight already, and we are still walking into this dark forest,” Lily screamed at her brother Mark.

Mark sighed heavily enough to make her roll her eyes.

“We are not in a forest. We have been walking on the road since our car broke down,” Mark said

“As if I don’t know it, and it is not at all dark!” Lily scowled at him.

“Oh God, would you please stop it!” He sighed again.

There was a creepy sound that wasn’t cool for Lily, and she got so scared that she accidentally made them both fall by tripping over him.

“Huh! What are you doing?” Mark screamed.

“You didn’t hear that sound? Didn’t you? Are you deaf?” She panicked, convinced she was going to die in a few minutes.

“That’s the sound of a stork.” He chuckled.

“What’s a stork?” She asked with a flat face, which made him chuckle more.

“That’s a bird, and you don’t know it.” He laughed at her.

“No! I know it. But all of a sudden, I didn’t remember it.” She was a little embarrassed.

“Oh God, you are such a baby.” He laughed even more.

“Okay! I am scared. Can you call someone?” She sounded subdued. That made him a little worried.

“I called a cab. No signal. But I guess Dad must have tracked our GPS and be on the way by now.” He sounded confident, which comforted her.

“I wish he were here.” She said, looking around.

Just as she was looking around, she caught sight of something in the bushes by the roadside. She turned to get her brother’s attention.

But he was not there! He was gone. Her heart was racing, and she screamed to find her brother. But she couldn’t find him.

The bushes started trembling as if they were going to explode.

Her heart raced as if it were going to jump out of her chest.

Mark jumped from the bushes, screaming. She jumped and started running towards the same direction they came from.

He chased after her, telling her to stop, but she never did.

As she ran, a car was approaching from afar; the car stopped. A guy in a suit got out of it. He was looking at Lily running towards him.

His hands moved toward his back, and he grabbed a gun all of a sudden.

Lily didn’t stop; she ran toward him.

He pointed the gun towards her.

And…

He realised that his stupid son was chasing his daughter for fun in the middle of a dark road.

“Oh, God! Mark, will you please stop this?” He scowled at him.

“Come on, Mr. Williams. Is your daughter a little girl? Doesn’t she have a brother to protect her after all?” He smirked

“Oh, by the way, Dad would have shot you if he hadn’t recognised you. And you are going to protect me! You will be the one who would kill me in the first place.” She rolled her eyes.

“Oh, my boy. She is right. I am protecting her, and you are the one who is going to get her killed…” He smiled, and all three got in the car.

“Dad, I was just playing with her. She is always scared of every little thing. I just taught her self-defence.” He smiled and looked at her.

“Huh! Look at her. She is asleep, and you are telling me she wants self-defence. She is a little one.” Mr. Williams said, smiling.

“Oh, your little girl.” He said sarcastically.
