The Beauty-Loving Passion Fruit

Once upon a time, in a strange place called the Topsy-Turvy Forest, there lived a passion fruit who loved nothing more than being beautiful.
To say she loved beauty was an understatement. Every morning, she washed her face with water from Matcha Lake (because green supposedly made her purple skin “pop”), used falling cherry blossom petals as blush, and asked Lychee Angel to spritz her with “Lychee Scent Spray” — otherwise, she feared she smelled “too much like an ordinary passion fruit.”
Act One: The Mirror of Matcha Lake
One day, Miss Passion Fruit rolled her round little body all the way to the edge of Matcha Lake.
“Lake, O Lake,” she shouted at the water. “Who in this world is the most beautiful?”
Matcha Lake was silent for three seconds. Then it gurgled and bubbled: “Hmm… are you sure you want to know?”
“Tell me now!”
“Well… Miss Peach next door just bought a new blush. She looks quite radiant today…”
The passion fruit was furious. Her skin instantly wrinkled up like an ancient walnut.
“I — AM — GOING — TO — SEE — LYCHEE — ANGEL!”
Act Two: Lychee Angel’s Plastic Surgery Clinic
Lychee Angel wasn’t a real angel. She was a lychee who believed she had wings (two lychee leaves pretending very hard). She had opened the “Angel Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Clinic” in a tree, with a crooked sign hanging outside:
“One visit, and even your mother won’t recognize you.”
When Passion Fruit rolled in, there was already a long line of customers.
A penguin was arguing with Lychee Angel at the counter:
“I said NO ‘burnt zebra color’! I was born black and white! Why would you dye me like a zebra?”
Lychee Angel rolled her eyes. “Darling, you came in asking for ‘a little change.’ I suggested the ‘Antarctic Chic Zebra Look’ — what’s the problem?”
The penguin flapped his wings angrily. “Zebras don’t LIVE in Antarctica!”
“Well, you know that now, don’t you?” Lychee Angel shrugged and turned to Passion Fruit. “Next~ Beautiful Miss Passion Fruit, what would you like to enhance today?”
Passion Fruit raised her head proudly. “I want to be even prettier! I want my skin to be smooth! No wrinkles! Like an apple!”
Silence fell over the clinic.
Then a dinosaur who had been resting in the corner (yes, there was a dinosaur in the clinic — he was there for a toenail consultation) slowly spoke up:
“You are a passion fruit. Passion fruits are wrinkled. Wrinkles are your thing.”
“I don’t want to hear it!” Passion Fruit rolled on the ground. “I don’t want wrinkles! I want to be a supermodel of the fruit world!”
Act Three: The Tiger’s Advice
Just as Passion Fruit was throwing her tantrum, a tiger happened to walk past the clinic. He stopped and watched.
“I get it,” the tiger said, resting his chin on one paw. “You want to be beautiful, right?”
Passion Fruit stopped rolling and nodded tearfully.
“I have an idea,” the tiger said with a mysterious smile. “Do you know why everyone thinks tigers are cool? Because we have hollow, soulful eyes.”
“Hollow soulful eyes?”
“Yes. All you need is to master the ‘Bored Supermodel Face.’ Then no matter what you look like, everyone will think you’re beautiful. Come, I’ll teach you — ”
The tiger demonstrated: half-closed eyes, chin slightly lifted, lips curved in a knowing almost-smile.
Passion Fruit tried her best to imitate.
But a passion fruit has no eyes, no mouth, and no chin.
All she could do was… spin in place.
“Did I do it?” she asked excitedly.
The tiger was silent for a long time. Then he turned to Lychee Angel and said, “Just wax her entire body. I give up.”
Act Four: Chaos at the Cherry Blossom Lake
Just then, a commotion broke out by the lake.
The penguin, seeking revenge on Lychee Angel, had called his friends — a flock of swans. The swans lined up, used their wings as rackets, and began playing badminton with the penguin.
As the penguin flew through the air, he shouted, “At least I’m flying!!! This is kind of a dream come true!”
The lead swan replied coldly, “Shut up. You’re ruining my feather hairdo.”
To make things worse, the dinosaur — after finishing his toenail consultation — stood up and swept his tail right through a whole row of “Vampire’s Special Blood Orange Juice” stalls. The vampire owner got so angry he turned into a bat and flew everywhere, knocking down all the cherry blossoms from the trees.
Cherry blossoms fell like snow. It was beautiful, like a painting.
But in the middle of that painting were: a penguin being badminton-smacked by swans, a dinosaur chasing a bat, a tiger trying to wax a passion fruit, and a lychee who had completely given up on life.
Act Five: Epiphany
As the tiger rolled her over and over, Passion Fruit suddenly stopped.
She looked at the cherry blossoms floating in the air. She looked at everyone bickering and laughing and causing mayhem. She looked at Matcha Lake, reflecting her own small, wrinkled purple face.
“Actually…” she whispered. “Maybe being wrinkly isn’t so bad. At least I don’t squish and rot as easily as a grape.”
The tiger froze and stared at her.
“And besides,” Passion Fruit continued, “I have so many seeds inside me. Each one can grow into a whole new passion fruit tree. Can any of those smooth-skinned fruits do that?”
Lychee Angel poked her head out of the clinic. “So you’re not changing anything?”
“No more changes!” Passion Fruit puffed out her chest proudly. “I will be the wrinkliest, most confident passion fruit in the whole wide world!”
The whole forest went quiet for two seconds.
Then someone — possibly the penguin still flying through the air — started clapping. The swans put down their wings. The dinosaur stopped chasing the vampire. The vampire turned back from a bat into his human-ish self. All the animals and fruits cheered for Passion Fruit.
Ending: Party at Matcha Lake
That night, they held a huge party by Matcha Lake.
Passion Fruit lay beside the water, cherry blossom petals resting on her wrinkly skin — like a custom-made pink gown.
The penguin finally gave up on his zebra dream and decided to accept being a black-and-white bird.
The dinosaur discovered that his toenails actually looked great with matcha‑green polish.
The vampire drank a whole glass of blood orange juice and admitted, “Well… fruit isn’t so bad after all. But don’t tell my mom.”
The swans made peace with the penguin, because the penguin promised to comb their feathers every day.
And Lychee Angel?
She closed the plastic surgery clinic and opened a café called “Just As You Are.” The signature drink is the “Wrinkly Passion Fruit Fizz” — no sugar, no frills, all natural, and still delicious.
And all of this began because a beauty-loving passion fruit finally learned to love herself exactly as she was.
(As for the tiger? He’s still teaching other fruits how to make the Bored Supermodel Face. He recently took on a kiwi as his apprentice. The results… well, let’s just say they’re interesting.)
The End.
