Hard Built — Soft Life 🖤

This morning, I’m sitting on my porch listening to the birds chirp, feeling the warmth of the sun on my face and the breeze brushing across my skin. It’s quiet in the kind of way that makes you pause and really take it all in, the kind of quiet that feels earned.

And as I sit here, I’m looking around at the little pieces of yesterday that are still scattered about.

Bathing suits and towels draped over the porch rails, still drying in the morning sun. Snack wrappers left behind on the steps. Little crumbs of strawberry cake in the yard where they sat, laughed, and giggled until the sun went down without a single worry in the world.

It’s not perfectly clean.

It’s not curated.

It’s not what people would call “put together.”

But it’s full.

Full of laughter.

Full of safety.

Full of love.

And I realized something in this quiet moment…

I built this.

Not in a big house.

Not in some picture-perfect setting.

Not with everything figured out.

I built this kind of life in a single wide rental trailer.

A place where people feel safe.

A place where kids can be loud, messy, and carefree.

A place where laughter echoes longer than the stress ever does.

A place where love lives in the little things like porch rails lined with wet towels and sticky fingers from strawberry cake.

We’re taught to believe that happiness lives in bigger homes, nicer things, more space, more money…

But that’s not where it lives.

Happiness lives in moments like this.

In the leftover mess from a day well spent.

In the sound of birds in the morning and kids laughing the night before.

In the feeling of knowing the people around you are safe, loved, and free to just be.

You don’t need a big home to have a happy one.

You just need love, intention, and a space where people can breathe.

And sitting here this morning, I can say with my whole chest..

This life may be simple,

but it’s everything and I built it
