Day Diary Of The Foodie Writer
5 a.m. have coffee, have another cup of coffee. Maybe one more cup of coffee. While enjoying the my coffee I make a shake or smoothie as well. I like to take my coffee with me on a light walk. I work a bit on social media and send off some emails while waddling around and waking up outside. Read some news from my phone. Text my mom to say good morning or maybe have a chat with her.
6 a.m. All those things we do in the morning for self-care. I usually will start planning my day at this point. If I’m lucky, like today, my hours are spent mostly considering delicious meals and sometimes eating them. Otherwise I may have an art project on the go, a class to attend, or a gig at some place that I’ve agreed to work at for a bit (writing hardly ever pays the bills, lets be honest. Even delectable iterations of the craft like food writing).
7 a.m. Work begins or else I am off to the gym if I’m not obligated to a class, task or gig. Today it’s the gym and later on I hope to catching up on some writing.
8:30 a.m. A tea break would be nice. Usually it’s just tea and getting into my work. Today I settle in and start journaling to warm myself up, fail at writing a poem and then turn my attention to getting some food writing done. I am working on a series of small, focused cookbooks called The Recipe Pocketbook Series. I have a goal of how many books I want to launch this year and am hustling toward my goal to make it happen.
9:00 a.m. Busy writing.
10:00 a.m. Still busy writing.
11:00 a.m. More writing
12:30 p.m. A break! Finally! At this point I make myself something to eat or go exploring a wonderful resturant to write about. Either way, it’s food time! I enjoy a pocket of time to just be. Day dream and enjoy my food. Sometimes I will want to keep working. Other times I call it quits. Today I am cutting loose and going to play around about.
2 p.m.
I test a recipe in the kitchen and start prepping to make a meal, whatever that may be. Tonight is pasta and wine! And I am making so cookies for a dessert with some coffee afterwards.
4:00
I sit down and enjoy a my experiment while enjoying some television. I clean up after eating and return to relax with my dessert.
5:00
I take a walk around the block. Try to get a second wind to keep going. Maybe call a friend or browse social media while waddling about.
6:00
I return home inspired to tackle a bit more work before I call it a night. Instead of food writing, I unwind with some other projects: I doodle for a bit and then work on a bit of a poem.
8:30
I slowly fizzle out to just watching television for the next little bit.
10:00
Night time chores and prepping for the next day. That means a whole host of things. Tonight that means prepping myself ahead of time for a yoga course I am taking. It’s an early start so getting everything ready now helps; I am not good at rushing and I am not a morning person. I spare everyone, myself included, the wrath of early morning frustrations by prepping ahead of time!
11:00
The best part of the day! Getting cozy in bed and drifting off to sleep listening to one podcast or another. It’s either ghost stories or something about delicious food!
