Everyone Has Advice for Mothers. Few Offer Help

I remember when I became a mother for the first time. Everything felt strange.

Suddenly, life changed.

From two, we became three.

You know, the whole world changes after having a baby. Suddenly there is a tiny life in your hands — a life you have to carry, protect, and guide through everything from the very beginning.

And honestly, motherhood is beautiful… but also overwhelming in ways nobody fully prepares you for.

“The moment a woman becomes a mother, everyone suddenly becomes an expert.”

Nowadays, Instagram reels and social media are everywhere. Mothers can search for almost every parenting advice online. First-time moms may not know everything, but they still try their best to learn.

They trust experienced people. They listen carefully. They genuinely want to do everything right.

But as people say, every house has its own doctor and advocate.

The moment a newborn arrives, everyone becomes extra sensitive about every little thing — and suddenly, everyone has an opinion.

“Don’t let the baby cry.” “Let the baby cry for five minutes.” “He should sleep now.” “Don’t carry him too much.” “Feed the baby this way.” “No, not like that.”

One advice is completely different from another.

And honestly, not every advice is wrong. Most people genuinely care about the baby.

But the person who gets confused in the middle of all this is usually the mother.

“Too much advice can sometimes sound louder than a mother’s own instincts.”

Every small thing starts feeling like a big decision.

Things Mothers Hear Too Often

  • “You worry too much.”
  • “We never did this in our time.”
  • “Don’t pick the baby up again.”
  • “You are overreacting.”
  • “You should already know this.”

I remember when babies get fever or even small health issues, today’s parents become very sensitive — which is understandable. Sometimes checking with a doctor early is actually the better option before things become serious.

But even then, opinions start coming from every direction.

“Don’t worry.” “Go to the doctor immediately.” “Try home remedies first.” “Medicine is not needed.”

And somewhere between all these voices, mothers quietly start wondering:

What if I’m doing something wrong?

That guilt slowly enters.

Because every mother wants to give her child the best possible care.

But too much advice can sometimes become emotionally exhausting. I know this because I went through it too.

Many times, instead of supporting mothers, people keep correcting them — sleep routines, feeding styles, parenting methods, everything.

And after a point, it becomes exhausting. Mentally and physically.

“A tired mother does not need another lecture. She needs kindness.”

There is also this invisible pressure to become a “perfect mother.”

“We did everything perfectly.” “We were always on time.” “You should do the same.”

But honestly…

Has anyone ever truly been perfect?

I don’t think perfection is what helps children grow in a healthy and happy way.

Yes, routines matter. Diet matters. Discipline matters.

But not in a way where both mothers and children start living under pressure all the time.

Children also need warmth, softness, mistakes, learning, and emotionally present parents — not just perfectly scheduled lives.

“Children don’t need perfect mothers. They need emotionally present ones.”

What Mothers Actually Need

  • Emotional support
  • Kindness instead of correction
  • Rest without guilt
  • Someone who listens without judging
  • Reassurance that they are doing enough

And mothers need support more than constant correction.

Maybe motherhood would feel lighter if people offered help as quickly as they offered advice.

Because motherhood already comes with enough pressure. Constant advice only makes it heavier.

Final Thoughts

No mother gets everything right all the time.

And maybe that is not the goal anyway.

Maybe children do not need perfect homes, perfect routines, or perfect parents.

Maybe they simply need love, safety, patience, and emotionally present mothers who are trying their best every single day.

And honestly… that is already enough.
