Love Feast Initiative Transforms Easter into Lifeline for Vulnerable Children in Accra

What began as a festive Easter gathering has evolved into a meaningful social intervention, as the 2026 Love Feast — Community Easter Celebration delivered critical support and hope to hundreds of vulnerable children in Accra on Easter Monday.

Organized by the DAP Global Foundation in collaboration with The Outpouring Oasis and PowerRead Africa Foundation, the initiative brought together children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, many of whom rarely have access to such opportunities.

While the atmosphere was filled with music, laughter, and excitement, organizers say the deeper purpose of the event was to address social gaps and provide direct support to children in need.

Speaking at the event, the Founder of DAP Global Foundation, Dr. Amaris N. A. Perbi, described the Love Feast as a strategic intervention designed to empower children through inclusion and educational support.

“This is not just about celebration. It is about ensuring that children, especially those from deprived communities, feel included, supported, and given opportunities to grow,” he said.

Children at the event participated in a wide range of structured activities including musical chairs, sack races, egg-and-spoon competitions, face painting, and dance contests — designed not only for entertainment but also to build confidence, teamwork, and social interaction.

A major highlight of the programme was the distribution of prizes through a lucky draw system aimed at supporting the educational needs of participants. Kelvin Fiabor and Michael Boateng each received $200, while Phoebe Sam was awarded an Android tablet. Ohene Adjei Baffour also took home GH¢200.

Organizers noted that such interventions are critical in addressing immediate needs such as access to learning materials, school uniforms, and other essentials that contribute to children’s development.

“When we provide these resources, we are investing in their future and giving them a reason to believe in themselves,” Dr. Perbi added.

The event also featured a competitive segment between “Team Funny Face” and “Team Nakeeyat,” with Team Funny Face emerging winners with 10 points to claim the trophy.

Popular entertainers including Funny Face and Nakeeyat played a key role in engaging the children, using humour and performance to create an atmosphere of joy and inspiration.

Funny Face, speaking on the sidelines, emphasized the importance of investing in children as part of national development.

“Anything that supports children, I’m always ready to be part of it because they are the future,” he said, encouraging parents to expose their children to such impactful initiatives.

Beyond the day’s activities, organizers say the Love Feast is part of a broader, long-term commitment to community transformation. Since its inception in 2010, the initiative has extended to other countries including Rwanda and Tanzania, with additional outreach programmes targeting deprived and remote communities.

As the event came to a close, its impact was evident — not just in the smiles and laughter, but in the tangible support provided and the renewed sense of hope among participants.

For many of the children, the Love Feast was more than an Easter celebration — it was a lifeline.
