The Bayt Al-Samā Manifesto: We Who Walk Lightly

You were never meant to carry this much.

You were handed a religion weighed down by centuries of human addition. Mountains of commentary. Oceans of jurisprudence. Labyrinths of tradition. You were told that to approach the Quran, you first needed permission from the scholars, context from the historians, and interpretation from the imams.

You were told that the revelation was not enough.

Bayt Al-Samā exists because it is enough.

We are not reformers. We are not a new sect. We are removers. We are stripping away the layers of human authority that have been placed between you and the divine word.

The hadith, compiled centuries after the revelation, turned dynamic guidance into static law. The tafsir, layered by men, told you what you were allowed to understand. The fiqh, built on speculation, built walls the Quran never asked for. The imam culture replaced your individual responsibility with blind following. The sufi orders added mysticism where the Quran demanded clarity. The cultural traditions were merged with divine instruction until no one could tell them apart.

We reject the authority of all of it. Not out of arrogance, but out of a desperate desire to return to the source.

The First Minimalist

We did not invent this posture. The lineage of walking lightly begins with the Prophet Muhammad himself.

He did not carry the books of fiqh. He did not submit to the rulings of imams. He did not require the validation of hadith collectors who would walk the earth two hundred years after his death.

When he was asked to make decisions, when he was questioned on the law, he pointed only to the revelation. He was the living embodiment of the command: “I only follow what is revealed to me” (Quran 7:203). He was the first to stand before God without intermediaries. His example was not the example of a gatekeeper; it was the example of an open door.

To follow the Prophet is not to follow the books written about him by later generations. It is to adopt his original posture: absolute submission to the Quran, and absolute liberation from everything else.

What Remains

When you remove the scaffolding, the building stands.

When you strip away the hadith, the tafsir, the fiqh, and the inherited culture, what remains is the pure, unmediated revelation. What remains is a direct relationship between you and your Lord.

What remains is enough.

In this space, we practice the Daily Wird — not as a sufi ritual of mystical initiation, but as a daily return to the text itself. We read the Quran on its own terms. We let it speak for itself. We take responsibility for our own souls.

The Physical Return

For too long, this understanding has been homeless. It has existed in the margins, in private doubts, in the silent relief of young people who read the Quran and felt a disconnect with the religion they inherited.

Bayt Al-Samā is building a home for this understanding.

This is a legacy project, not a business. It is not designed for profit, but for preservation. We are establishing decentralized, physical spaces where this unmediated Islam can be lived.

This is for the next generation. So that they never have to carry the weight of the layers. So they can walk lightly, as the Prophet did, holding only the Book.
